I am trying to speed up my bittorrent through port forwarding. However I am having difficulties with setting up a statis IP address. According to this site http://portforward.com/networking/static-vista.htm, I am supposed to enter the numbers manually. I got this set of numbers below but the internet gets cut off when I use them.
IP address: 58.182.10.48
Subnet mask: 255.255.252.0
Default gateway: 58.182.8.1
DNS Server: 202.156.48.0
I am a Windows Vista user. I have a Starhub Maxonline account.
I did not try with this statis IP address method at first. Initially I read about another method but that requires entering my IP address in a browser to get to the configuration page. I entered 58.182.10.48 in the browser and got an error page.
Can someone please help me? I'm not very good with computer stuff, so please keep the explanations simple. I get lost easily. :p

I have posted about something related in my last post here:
http://sgforums.com/forums/2250/topics/332342
Try this:
Press Windows Key + R, type in "cmd" and press Enter, and a black window will appear. Enter the command "ipconfig /all" and look for the value under IP address for your router (probably listed under "Local Area Connection"). That will be the value for the "Default Gateway" field when setting up the static IP address.
Regarding the IP address field, just use something like "x.x.x.101" where "x.x.x" is the first three set of numbers from the router's (Default Gateway) IP address.
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
As for the DNS server fields, use the following IP addresses:
Singnet
Preferred: 165.21.83.88
Alternate: 165.21.100.88
Starhub
Preferred: 203.116.1.78
Alternate: 203.116.254.150
Last but not least, you will need to disconnect and re-connect the LAN connection for this change to take effect.
