Just remembering the good old days when...
Belt webbing (belt, mag pouch x 2,water bottle pouch x2,Harness) or SBO instead of LBV/BPV
Sewing on Unit/brigade patch on SBO harness after turning ops
When there is no such thing as 20 push up rule
You are really scared of CSM/RSM
Digging fire-trench in BMT, if not satisfactory, bury and dig at another spot.
3 week confinement plus parents visiting (got 1 cart of cigs!! was the coy's fav recruit for the week!)
M16S1/AR-15 instead of SAR21 (if 1G, heavy barrel AR-15)
Leather boots instead of goretex go fasters
Wearing your gutters low on the boots instead of above to signify "lao chiaoness" Applicable for 6-10 cycle reservists
Carrying a poncho instead of goretex jacket and somehow squeezing inside buttpouch of SBO
Dragging the ali baba bag instead of the "stewardess bag"
Spraying the inbound/outbound flight number on the base of ali baba bag..
Old field pack with shiity straps instead of MOLLE fieldpack ,more garang carry ALICE pack subject to approval, then somehow have to dangle sect comdr bag...
You carry everything inside the list unless your PS say otherwise even it is doesnt make sense..and then somemore
Name tags were in camoflage and not olive drab
No such thing as unit patch or vocation patch, everyone looks the same (except rank.)
Joining in training/exercise even with status/excuse just by pleading with PS/PC
Served food inside insulators outfield or styrofoam box instead of paper box & heat retaining green bag.
Touching the tree the punishment of choice
the rec's favorite..."help, help the wall is falling!"
Waterproofing field pack with trash bag
Man-packing the Infantry Assault Bridge.(As told by lao chiao instructors, thank god didnt have to do it!)
2am turn out, 500+ push ups ,sit ups, alternate leg thrust, change parade, running around the track till 4am because of some idiot caught smoking inside toilet, next day fall in at 0530, SOC at 0700(that was one hell of a day!)
BMT Coy punished severely because some asshat clown take a shit on the conwire during field camp...with the soiled toilet paper stuck on the con....field pack over head for 30 mins..
10 of the month! Hit the clubs/KTV with platoon mates on weekends as if the whole week was not taxing enough...book in with as many food as you can pack inside your civvie bag.By the end of the week no more money.. back to square one waiting for the tenth of the next month..(repeat cycle for the next 29 months)
Enemy front/left/right charge! is till viable
Using MILES gear instead of TES set
FIBUA was the highspeed training (Urban Operations: FIBUA on steroids)
What is MATADOR? Armbrust still the way to go..and less heavier
And blowing up holes in walls with cross charge and doors with the testicle-like sock charge..
Rushing to draw signal sets to get the 840 rather than 77 for Longstride..
Bayonet Fighting instead of CCT...
Section Comdr bag macam girls bag..not unlike nowdays
You still carry 2 x 1.5 liter water bottle in your pack instead of 3 liter camelbak.
Carrying the 732 instead of 610 set (lighter, but crap) inside your water bottle pouch or buttpouch.
Riding a Super Puma instead of Chinook for heli ops or UH-1H in Thailand/Brunei
Walking the 32km RM in BSLC rather than ASLC and getting Combat Skill Badge..Walking it again with unit during AIT
After ASLC can sew the "SPECIALISTS" tag on Admin and PT shirts..
Grey admin shirts instead of the ugly brown ones
You just lan lan enlist, complain after ORD rather than complaining or whining on online forums, asking how to keng and such, even BEFORE ENLISTMENT!
And much, much more i cant remember (will keep editing once i recollect).....
last time 1G = 1 person do 1 job
2G = 1 person do 2 jobs
and so on...

how true!
the "ugly" brown shirt happens to be the most damn hell comfy thing SAF have ever come up with. love that shirt man. i wear it to sleep nowadays lol
wayang vs more wayang vs more wayang + surround sound!
1G or 4G all must serve and fuck oof.
me still having the old SBO and fieldpack
nowadays NSF is still having the better choice in equipment !!

yeah, but it doesnt absorb sweat really well unlike the grey shirt. i rather buy the commercial brown shirt.

yeah, but the new guys have more easier life than before...
had the best of both worlds.. sorta
SBO instead of the hot and heavy LBV.. M16 instead of the SAR21.
but 3G training, rules, transport (aircon bus!) and accomodation.
I prefer the grey shirt over the brown.. the brown's comfy to wear inside, but not as durable as the grey. The material is so thin and cheapskate..

My PT kid was a green vest that shrinks a thick blue shorts that absorbed urine and shaolin kung Fu shoes....1/2 G army if you want to know and I signed on >LOL
star jumps banned..

probably some WH couldn't climb onto a 3-tonner or fell off the damned thing

that's a good one. Shows that common sense is indeed a rare trait in human beings...
but the last i heard from my NSF friend, SAF resorting to commercial buses, because army drivers, who got their mileage to convert to civilian licenses, are getting complacent. If anything happen, not good image for SAF. Any confirmation? What's the true reason??
Thanks in advance!
Road conditions maybe? Imagine like 10+ tonners (some with trailers attached), not to mention the jeeps, rovers and bikes ... Commercial buses might make us more low profile also? These are just my guesses ...
Speed too slow... At 50km/h, a convoy of 3 tonners and 2 L/R will cause a massive jam on the expressway
1G is many people do one job
2G is one person do one job
3G is one person do many job
multitasking. outside working also like that what
My thought...
1G , green T-shirt for PT
2G, grey singlet for PT
2.5G, grey singlet + a BIG word ARMY behind for PT
3G, khaki T-shirts for PT.
one more, last time people kena anything just kpkb then forget and suck thumb, now, we kpkb, call hotline etc....commanders suck thumb but limited to a reasonable extent la
3g army, rifleman also have to smart, like me lor jc guy become man, then go unit become most trusted private=favourite arrow target, cos we do work fast and good.....even do things like ammo point also like auto-pilot commander only vsit once or twice when he no training...haiz bo bian lol, cant bear to smake out and pangseh

Best kind of transportation is still the public ones.In the World war 2 1000 taxis were used to transport french soldiers to the frontlines on time.
