Who knows Tampines feeder svc start from the extension Int?
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:Anyway... there is no news of Buangkok interchange yet... even if they announce now... will not come up until 2019/2020... so there is still 4-5 years for the temporary extension... and i agree that this extension will stay.
Not sure about tampines extension though.. in a weird place.. and with CBP and tampines north interchange.. may or may not need it in few years time.
Hi mr busanalyser, I am surprised by the location of tampines extended interchange though. Quite far off. Unless this extended tampines interchange is 1 of the entrance/exit of the future downtown line for tampines. Anybody can confirm this? Cheers.

It is also not very close to DTL.. I am sure they will make a link to DTL but that will be only in 2017 of use. Yes, location is bad. But I guess it is a tradeoff between more services and not having.
Originally posted by SBS 9631X:I think what is possible here is that there is a service selected from each of the groups you classified together that goes out to the extension.
Notice that you classified the services into groups like Industrial and Feeder and say at one shot all those in each group cannot go out.
My point is, if they really want to minimise the damage, they'll probably take one feeder, one Industrial-bound, one city-bound and one intratown out to the extension.
37, 18, 292 and one city-bound. (Dk which city-bound because Sv 10 & 65 is always packed). I wouldn't say all the services are not packed. Just that they aren't that packed for like 3/4 of the day, when compared to the rest in their groups. (eg. don't compare the Sv 37 load versus Sv 81, compare Sv 37's all-day loading to 19 or 29, or Sv 292 vs 291 & 293.
Was just thinking.. sv 3 could be a good candidate to operate from extension... have a stop right outside MRT (stop of 21/27/168) for those who don't want to walk to extended interchange.
2015: the year of new bus interchanges.
Q1 2015 - Joo Koon Bus Interchange
Q3 2015 - Sengkang Bus Interchange Two
Q4 2015 - Tampines Bus Interchange Two
Moving on, I believe there will be more bus interchanges being expanded and more (roadside) bus terminals being constructed.
There was a thread ('Which area need a bus terminal/Interchange?') on this in April-July this year.
Bus Interchanges that are already (or will soon be) operating at full capacity, yet already become Integrated Transport Hub, would most probably all be expanded progressively. For example, Serangoon Bus Interchange.
Alternatively, the Government should consider building bus interchanges at more MRT stations, to divert the traffic from heavily-utilised MRT stations to surrounding MRT stations.
Lol, Sengkang one big round in the end still end up building somewhere near the old int for expansion.

What does this mean?

Don't forget Changi Business Park terminal in 2015 as well + Loyang Depot / Bulim Depot fully operational.
Would have been great if they would have announced Serangoon Interchange extension, maybe near the old interchange (problem is less open space around) unless interchange/terminal is shifted to Chomp Chomp or Serangoon North.

For instance, it could be okay for 969 to operate from there. Anyway... most ppl are long distance travellers.. with travelators on the connector between interchange... complaints would be far less than on 37 or 292 moving to new interchange.
Night time, 81 need to absorb pax from 19 and 37 towards Tamp JC/Loyang. It may have less pax compared to other services, but I often see 20+ pax everytime I took it at night (Even after 4 left with full Citaro load). I have also seen 38 leaving with about 30-40 pax. 39's pax amount depends whether 20, 39 or 292 comes first. Not many actually takes 8 from Tamp Int (At least I don't see many) and hardly any Temasek pax takes 8 from Int.
And isn't Tamp Concourse just across the current Int? It could be right across current Int and still connect to MRT (Tamp DTL station under Central 1) (If there is a map of the proposed site, do point that out to me)

Yes, please refer the map on LTA website or the link I posted here earlier, which shows the interchange almost at the end of Tampines Concourse. Int extension is closer to Tampines Ave 9, than Tampines Interchange.
You have valid point on sv 81 for sure. Let's see how they plan it out. I also believe they will introduce parallel service to 27 once the extension is complete.
Not sure if it would have made better sense to have an interchange with 12 parking bays at Tampines East (with DTL line). That way crowding of the Tampines Central area could also have been avoided.

Thanks for the links, the location is quite bad for any service to be amended there. They need to loop at the existing one first. About Tamp East, there is no space there to build one as far as I can tell. If really need a service from there, can start from Loyang Depot.
Off-topic, but when looking at the maps, I read the comments section and one wall of text caught my attention. What happen on Sept 3 regarding 179/182?
sbs275 please stop bringing up your 179A problem.
on-topic, the tampines interchange expansion is problematic, DTL construction will only be completed in late 2017. it takes about 2-3 years to built a proper interchange, then means the spot will only be ready by 2019 at the earliest.

No. Please read the press release. Sengkang complete by Q3 next year.. Tampines by Q4 next year.. Or did you mean current Tampines interchange extension!?

If you look carefully at the proposed map, Tampines Interchange extension is so far away from the current interchange...by 4th quarter 2015, the extension site will be complete and a linkway will join both areas but it is not considered a 'proper interchange'...I suppose he means that amenities which makes it a proper interchange will take up a total of 4 years to build when even the building of the DTL station makes it a burden...

You mean Mr ButIAmAToilet is Mr Pang ST aka sbst275??

Obviously... read his comments.. same writing style.. whining about 179A again... there is no one else but sbst275 who complains about 179A... not seen anyone else doing... that too when 179 is so well operated by SBST.

Well, SK int used to be opp the current site, now that the integrated transport hub at SK went out of space, they made use of the land oppsite near where the old int is again, which shows a lack of planning
81 so far so good,No need fleet additional nor SD to DD conversion..
Actually, it is pretty obvious that these are interim bus interchanges for something else bigger, isn't it?
Oh.... so is that guy ar.... who knows, later he try set up bus company try bid for 179 route.
Anyway, if current service diverted to other interchange, what will they call it? If same name, pax will confirm confuse one.

Actually if the planned Buangkok Interchange would have been launched by now, there would not have even be the need for extension.
As far as planning goes, I can vouch for this: our country has one of the best planning systems in the world. Travelled around globally - the futuristic vision that we display is not shown by even many of the top EU economies, leave alone United States, where public transport is kept to fry.
It's just we don't realize and celebrate how good we are!! Unforunately!

The interchange extension is way too far. But the site just opposite is reserved for the DTL exit.
For Sengkang is poor planing if LTA actually have planned properly the interchange should not even moved into compass point the space is too small to park many buses there. it a political things to build the air-con interchange. 159 or 163 should extend to punggol interchange since both of them loop at Toa Payoh. and that will be one service less to park at the interchange. with DTL and Tampines north new town coming it time to upgrade the tampines interchange for more feeder services.
