Oz BAMS withdrawal because short of men,not short of budget.

In this bad time,no body will blame u if u cut your defence budget.
But out oz fren down under seem very concerned about face.
They have to tell Janes behind the scene that the true reason of
withdrawl fr BAMS was "driven by personnel issues",
'not based on finances'.
In fact ,this reason is worse than no budget.
If u dunt have enough talents on defence,i dunt know how
u can defend.
Thats why Oz can only operate 3 out of 6 subs,
citing lack of seamen in the once hot economy.
The serious shortage of maths teachers and maths workers
may contribute to lack of defence workers.
Cultivation of talents take decades.
Oz Maths No Longer Counts-acute shortage in teacher & expert

But i am suprised that 2 months ago,oz is decribed committed to'
this programme.

Aussie team supports Broad Area Maritime Surveillance
''An 18-month, $15 million, cooperative agreement between the United States and Australia has bolstered the pre-system development and demonstration processes for the Navy’s Broad Area Maritime Surveillance Unmanned Aircraft System program.

''The Australian government has rejected suggestions that economic pressures forced it to cancel its participation in the US Navy-led Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) programme.
A government source told Jane's on 3 March that the decision not to proceed with the project - which would have provided Australia with a maritime unmanned surveillance system based on the Global Hawk umanned aerial vehicle - was "driven by personnel issues".
The project was worth between AUD1.1 billion and AUD1.5 billion (USD679 million and USD950 million).
"Despite media reports suggesting otherwise, I can assure you that this decision was not a result of the economic crisis," said the source. "If the Royal Australian Air Force had said that the project was manageable, then it is probable that we would have continued. But that wasn't the case."
In announcing the decision on 2 March, a statement by the Australian Department of Defence (DoD) said that delays in the BAMS programme meant that the earliest in-service date was 2015.''
