I don't think I want a maid in my new house.
I really feel uncomfortable living with a stranger.

but as for maids..
if they work for u for quite sometime, u will feel tat she is part of ur family de lah.
i remember,
when i was young,when one maid gotta go back to her country,
i will cry n make a big fuss out of it,refusing to accept the new maid.
but as time goes by,me n the new maid will b on gd terms le. -

especially if you just married ba.. if you have kids and ALREADY have lots of other little peoples in the house... it isn't so bad
but if its just you and partner... seems a bit superfluous to have another person just to do the cleaning up... -

not necessarily so.... I have one permanent hourly rated Chinese lady that comes in weekly for a 3-4 hour job at 10 bucks an hour. She knows my family's routine and the job requirement. -

If my dad do that kind of shameless thing, I rather break ties with him -
Most maids don't solve anything, it just adds a burden to us. They are not automatic and you have to tell them everything and every single instruction. If you are lucky, they will do. If not, then you will see your wife pop veins.
Besides, having a kid and letting the maid take care is not the best solution. Some maids drink the mail formula themselves, some feed the baby alcohol to keep them quiet. Others ill treat babies. Mostly maids who come here, mix around with a lot of the wrong crowd and even pros themselves to get $$$. So they might also potentially have aids and what if they happen to infect your kids? Then how??? -
wah... err i dont think MOST of them are like this la... Many do come from poor families and hope to just WORK here and send money home. PRetty much like our ancestors previously... amahs etc who work for the angmos... of course there are black sheep... but.... err.. life really isn't easy for them. Especially when they used to come when they are so young! I mean I do feel that they can be good assistants in families who need a bit of extra help... especially families with no in-laws and more kids... AS LONG AS the parents don't think that the maid is supposed to 'bring up' their kid for them.
But between irresponsible maids and abusive employers and media ... I think the professional working relationship that CAN exist has become hard to achieve and strained. -

I told my mum not to bring my brother's maid to my house. I leave my things everywhere and never remembers what I have. Don't want to lose anything. I am not surprise. My malaysian ex-tenant who stay with me also stole my things and broke things for me... much less a maid ... I also trust her and never check ... then when she moved out... wah big shock!
