Gahmen has announced that a $5 million scholarship program to rival the world reknowned Fulbright Scholarship will be launched in the proposed Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
Professor Boh Doh, who was appointed the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, explained that the scholarship will be modelled to preserve the tradition of scholars in the Singapore Civil Service. He announced that it will be called the Half-Bright Scholarship, because it is important to save energy during the recession.
“Full bright, too expensive,” he said. “Half bright cheaper.”
In any case, he explained that generations of our Oxford,Cambridge and Ivy League-trained PSC scholars have successfully returned home only half-bright.
He said the half-bright, glossy brochure public policies that have put Singapore in a less than dazzling economic condition for half a decade are a glowing testimony to their brightness.
“When it comes to wits,” said Prof. Boh, “Dim ones have served us well all along.”
Prof Boh Doh stressed that candidates must be “academically number one” and more Importantly, bilingual in Mandarin and Singlish.
He also stressed that candidates who are excellent in CCAs, especially in archery and tai-chi, stand a high chance of acceptance.
This, he promised, will help to preserve the current culture of culturally diversified, highly creative, half-bright scholars in the public service.
Prof Boh Doh concluded that this Half-Bright Scholarship is essential for the bright future that PM Goh claims he can see for Singapore.
