Well, I feel a lot boils down to the following
1. Equal qualification and opportunity to meet up with the opposite sex
2. No longer that tolerance to indifferences in the family
3. Characters not compatible (common lame excuses)
4. etc etc etc -

I think the economy also plays a part.
Especially now, it's so darn bad... many people were retrenched or jobless.
In this case, u can put urself in a jobless man's shoe, ask urself: "Will any gal want me? I'm jobless. How can I support her and myself?"
And also in a retrenched man's shoe:
"I'm retrenched, what if my wife/gf finds out? Will she understand?"
(Mostly, I guess she won't understand...)
My guess this time is perhaps most divorced couples are young couples. That's why...

Retrenchments resulting in difficulties in paying housing loans/car loans etc do result in divorce.
Less tolerance is the prime factor for fail marriage as a lot of "zi ma Lu dou" issues can lead to a couple saying divorce and this leads to fail marriage as well.

morality is declining in singapore..thru the recent attempts to re-make singapore...the govt has made it worse..i am considering to leave this place....a thought i always withhold in the past

agree with your point.
Come to think of it, it's still take two hands to clap, but it takes a clapper to clap to a certain volume. Whether he wants to clap loudly, or softly, it's still a matter of choice after all.
What I meant was that if a couple agree to commit in their relationship, they should make the best out of it and to be responsible for the things they did. Not only the guy has to bear responsibility, the girl also has to. Therefore, a relationship takes a lot of responsibility to make it work.
So, the moral here?
Don't step into a relationship until one is matured in his ways.
Maturity isn't how old a person is, rather it is how one is responsible for himself. -
