Hazy conditions expected to persist through Wednesday: NEA
SINGAPORE: The current hazy conditions in Singapore are expected to persist through Wednesday, said the National Environment Agency on Tuesday (Sep 29).
Air quality is expected to be in the "high end of the Unhealthy range and the low end of the Very Unhealthy range" for the next 24 hours, said NEA in an advisory on Tuesday evening. The 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) remained at Unhealthy and Very Unhealthy levels throughout Tuesday.
"Prevailing winds are forecast to continue blowing from the southeast, and hazy conditions can still be expected," said NEA.
A total of 49 hotspots were detected in Sumatra on Tuesday, but the low hotspot count was due to cloud cover over parts of the island, said NEA. "Moderate to dense haze continued to be observed in Sumatra," the agency added.
Earlier on Tuesday, NEA had said the air quality was expected to be in the "low to mid sections of the Very Unhealthy range".
