hard disk spoilt

  sorry, asking a noob question.I have a 120gb hard disk spoilt.I know it expensive to have it repair, but how much?Is there anyway to repair back for few hours coz i just need to burn it on the cd. The brand is maxtor and its still under warrantly..Thks.

  since under warranty then bring to maxtor or the authorised service centre
  
  scream and yell that u have important data inside
  ask him to check wats the prob and whether data can be recovered
  
  if cannot then too bad
  but u get to have a new HDD

  If you've been to their factory they throw hdds around like you throw your socks around after you come back from work.

  double check your hard disk on another computer. maybe it work

  Maxtor hard disks are not reilable.
  
  I remember some years ago, I bought a 40gb hard disk, it crashed less than a month, I lost many valuable datas inside.

  HD crash can have a few reasons......not necessary the HDD itself mah......

  I am using a maxtor harddisk for 4 yrs.. No probs leh... working fine..

  Just check with Maxtor's servicing if your data is retrievable or not, otherwise can request for a new harddisk.
  
  Harddisk failure can be due to multiple factors:
  1. Motor on harddisk burnt
  2. Hardware conflicts causing buffer on harddisk overflow
  3. PCB on harddisk faulty
  4. Motherboard on PC faulty on the IDE connector to harddisk
  5. DON'T GET MAXTOR AS THEIR HARDDISK IS NOT RELIABLE!

  When you switch on your PC, do not kick the PC/table while it is booting up. These accidental knocks could damage your hard disk. Repair is often uneconomical. Data can be recovered from the disk but it will be costly.

  send back for warranty repair and buy another HDD to tide U over if U need a HDD to run ur hardware.Repair normally takes around 3 months.
  
  U can say goodbye to ur data.unless maybe U pay.big bucks.

  I just accidenlty knock my cpu onto the floor from the table... now have problem starting up liao...

  yeah, it's the last thing i wish will ever happen. imagine building up all tat data again, esp if u have partial or no backup.
