Hi, I am going to sp for marine engineering...I would like to know more about the life of poly. I noticed that during the vacation week, there is student personal development week, can anyone tell me what is this about and is it a must to take up. Is CCA impt in poly as to application for my future advancement to uni? Besides getting a gd GPA, must I really spend my time for CCA to get a plc in Uni.
Singapore Poly, good food and exercise (climb mountain) You'd better go for the orientation ar, it's gonna be fun!
Student Personal Development week is mean you can go back to school for optional courses offered by the school/external parties. You'll have to pay for the short course yourself. It's like a week for you to improve your other skills through very short courses. Nothing important or major about this, some schools make cajole the student thinking it's complusory, while some make it optional and no student from that faculty attend.
CCA is really very important if you really considering to go local University.
Hi Darkness, thank you so much. Is it true to join CCA, you hv to be very good as in school player or person in charge, then the points are counted. Can you let me know, how to secure the cca points within the 3 years so that I can hv more time to study to get a good gpa to go spore uni. Pls show me the route. thank you
There are many types of CCA in schools. Some are competitive CCA (eg. sports) while others are just classified as Interest Group like dance. CCA is mean Co Curricular Activities, it's a statement to show you have attended meaningful activities while you're in your student's life.
I may be very wrong to say this... students who are from competitive CCA group who have great sportsmanship and won awards are slightly more valued than those who hold regular CCA.
The best way is actually to be part of the school team and help the school win awards, if not at least help participate in events. Many of us aren't sports people, but just hobbist. You can find an Interest Group which have your hobby and work from there. The key word is 'participation'. If you can win awards, that's bonus for you. Leadership role adds nothing more but a *shine*.
You heard of Community work and Non profit organization? I know at least one close friend who wanted a place in university so much that she did community work regularly apart from school work and CCA.
If you want a CCA where you can relax a lot, join the drama club
