problems with ADSL modem

  i'm using the efficient networks adsl modem for my singnet broadband connection... but sometimes the connection will go off saying " network cable unplugg " but it comes back on again for a few secs b4 the unplug icon appears on the taskbar again. Then i have to either restart or plug off and plug in again but still may not work until a few more tries... anyone any ideas why its like this?

  is it ur cable lossen? or the cable contact wif the modem is not tight enough? check this out else contact the singnet abt this problem and ask them the 1 to 1 exchange for u. i think ur modem hv onli 1 yr warrenty.. after 1 yr if ur modem spoil u nd to get a new 1. quite costy. ard SG$200++

  Are u using USB Cable Modem? Wat i noe is tt USB cable is not compatible with AMD MainBoard? are u using USB Cable and AMD Mainboard at the same time? If no, you can ignore my post. If yes, trying changing ur modem which run using Network card.
  Problem when using USB Cab and AMD :
  1. Connection will tends to lost slowly until you replug or restart your com.
  2. Computer may sometimes crush when you on ur PC.

  AMD motherboard? Do u mean running on AMD cpu? I have my AMB atteched to an AMD 800 cpu. Don't have any connection problem even after 10-15 hours continously connection.
  
  Although it pretty strange the modem need's 3-5 mins after system bootup to be workable. It will indicate "downloading software" for about 2-3 mins, follow by the no modem found icon and then eventually online. The timing i observed is intermittent. Do u have this problem?
  
  Regarding your connection problem, have you tried to connect your modem to another usb port?

  This have been a problem for all the broadband service provider. Including Pac Net, Singnet, SCV. Tonnes of complains were recieve by them.
  I like to add, not all AMD MB Chipset is incompatible.

  If u are using AMD chipset m/b, go for those Network card (NIC) based broadband modems instead of the USB version.

  Hmm it seem like this will happen only when u off the power of the modem. I forgotton to off the modem the other night and when i boot up the system the next day...no downloading of firmware delay at all.
  
  Then again, quite risky to leave the modem on at all time. Need surge potection.

  Wah! No choice leh, singtel doesn't gave u any choice of modem when u sign up. Also, singtel tend to change their "package" modem very frequently. End of last year till now already 3 different model.

  THose friggin' Usb modems that Singnet are offering doesnt support VIA chipset. fuck! which is what i am using.
  so the alternative is to pay more money to get the ethernet modems...
  
  btw i just found out that VIA chipset sucks...bad USB support...that's why got this problem...damn!

  By the way... I have a small LAN set up and wanted to share the internet access... Wanted the Efficient ADSL Router modem but the bloody Singet staff keep "recommending" the Aztech and said the Efficient is out of stock.....
  
  DON'T ever use the Aztech for sharing connection..... CANNOT WORK..... and lots of problem... I've heard also that it drops the connection very often......
  
  Anyone else out there have a similar problem?

  i've got that made-in-China aztech modem for free from that singnet promotion, i love my modem
