SINGAPORE: All sealed boxes containing ballot papers and other documents used in the Presidential Election last August were destroyed on Saturday morning at the Tuas South Incineration Plant.
The ballot papers and other documents used in the election had been retained, sealed and kept in safe custody for six months at the Supreme Court.
The presidential election was held on August 27 last year.
The
ballot boxes were removed from the Supreme Court at 8am on Saturday
before they were transported to the plant for destruction by
incineration.
The process was witnessed by the returning officer Yam Ah Mee and then-presidential candidates Tan Cheng Bock and Tan Jee Say.
