'He who irritates you, wins you'
POLITICAL hopeful Zeng Guoyuan may have failed in his bid to get on the election slate this time, but that has not deterred him from trying to win over voters.
His plan: help Singaporeans cope with hair loss and weight gain, with his very own all-in-one product.
The label on the sample he gave The Straits Times makes three claims: "most sickness gone" and, somewhat less ambitiously, "non-poisonous" and "no ill side effects".
And the best part about the Vegetable Shampoo and Hot Oil, which retails for $15? The expiry date, which reads: "The longer it is store (sic), the more effective it is."
He claims it is selling so well that he can well afford the hefty $13,500 election deposit. He said: "My shampoo sells worldwide; money is pouring in. This is small money."
On Nomination Day on Wednesday, the eccentric businessman who had obtained a political donation certificate - a prerequisite to contesting - said he could not contest after all.
He claimed he was disqualified because he was fined in 2008 when his pet parrot uttered a profane word to police officers entering his shop that year.
To amused looks and stified giggles, Mr Zeng said the word actually stood for "friendly, understanding, caring and kind".
But in the face of rejection and ridicule, Mr Zeng could well be called Mr Zen for this measured, sagely response: "He who angers you, conquers you. He who irritates you, wins you."

If you get to watch The Avengers 4 times a day at home, do you still want to go to someone's else home to watch The Avengers?
I think this election will be non event.

No need say liao..PEH have his master 'erlang shen' LTK up there easy win for him wor..
checked liao.
heng ah. no have my pic.
It may be a narrow win for Hougang if PAP can hang the right carrot for them to bite.
To be fair to WP, they have to devise some plan to improve the facilities and infastructure in Hougang.
The Hougang residents would also like their living condition and environment to be improved.
The WP is dwelling too much on national issues and did not come to any commitment or promise on what they can do for Hougang residents.
Stirring up emotions is good but what more can you offer when you win over Hougang.
This is the most important topic for Png to work on for the next rally.

Huh?
Watching MIWs rally.
Saw lots of individuals trying to score bonus point in front of their boss.
One of them refused to go down despite being given reminders to sit down.
All of them attacking on one person and did not have any substance or variation to support their cause.
Every one are echoing the same point.
They are worse prepared to fight this election.
meanwhile at WP rally
so is the crowd at MIW pathetic?!
cocksucker detected
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean has questioned why the Workers' Party did not send Mr Png Eng Huat to Parliament earlier when it had a chance to do so.
At the rally at Hougang stadium, Mr Teo said Mr Png was not deemed the best man from the WP's losing East Coast GRC team to go to Parliament to represent the party.
'I think the voters have a right to ask why the WP did not send Mr Png to Parliament, but now want the voters of Hougang to send him to Parliament. Is Hougang so special that the WP is sending you a candidate that the WP themselves decided not to sent to Parliament when they had a chance?'
In a hard-hitting speech, Mr Teo also attacked the WP for changing their positions on issues such as foreign workers and ministerial salaries, and threw his support behind People's Action Party candidate Desmond Choo.
'It is easy to talk, but even the WP, when it honestly confronts the issues we face, has changed its previous positions and come out with solutions not so different from what the PAP is proposing,' said Mr Teo.
He highlighted that Mr Choo did not leave Hougang, but stayed on even after losing in the GE last year, even though former Hougang MP Yaw Shin Leong has left, and WP chief Low Thia Khiang has also left the ward.
'Give this new man, Mr Desmond Choo a chance to show what he can do for you, to improve Hougang and to improve your lives,' he said.
'If he does not live up to your expectations, in four years' time, ask Mr Low to come back, or ask him to send someone even better.'
