Senior Naval and Coast Guard Officers from Asia Pacific to Gather at Offshore Patrol Vessels 2013 Summit in Singapore
SINGAPORE, Dec. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Defence IQ has recently announced that the 3rd Annual Offshore Patrol Vessel Asia-Pacific will be taking place on the 16th - 17th April 2013, in Singapore.
Senior ranking flag officers from regional Navies and Coast Guards will gather at the conference to discuss the latest developments in fleet capabilities and requirements, as well as to discuss operational experiences and perspectives in overcoming regional maritime security threats.
Chaired by Rear Admiral Thomas Carney, Commander of the Logistics Group, Western Pacific Fleet US Navy, the conference will feature leading Naval and Coast Guard representatives from the USA, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and more, and zoom in on the critical issues to fleet capability development, maritime security and acquisition plans. To date, over 20 agencies will be attending, including the Royal Malaysian Navy, MMEA, Indonesian Navy, Bakorkamla, Philippines Coast Guard, Philippines Navy, Vietnam Marine Police, Royal Thai Navy and more. In addition, the summit will feature a pre-conference requirements day dedicated to discussing capability developments and acquisition plans for the region's maritime agencies.
Bringing together the best minds of the military and industry to brainstorm on OPV capabilities, challenges and requirements is important in enhancing maritime operations and security in the region, as Colin Simpson, regional Director at Austal, points out. Offshore Patrol Vessels Asia Pacific 2013 will feature over 80 senior naval officers in attendance, making it Asia's largest gathering of senior government maritime officials.
