SINGAPORE, June 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- In Southeast Asia, Bosch has announced its financial results for 2011, reporting over 11 percent increase in revenue from 2010, achieving a total of SGD 947 million in sales. Compared to 2010, Bosch expanded its work force by 22 percent to more than 5,000 associates across the seven Southeast Asian countries ofSingapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia.
"Bosch has continued to perform well in Southeast Asia despite worldwide challenges such as the sovereign debt and currency crisis in other parts of the world, and calamities in Thailandand the Philippines in 2011," said Martin Hayes, President of Bosch in Southeast Asia, and Managing Director of Bosch in Singapore and Malaysia.
"We owe our success and growth to our associates for securing the outstanding performance of the company and making a positive social contribution to the less fortunate around them," added Mr. Hayes, referring to the flood relief efforts in Thailand.
Singapore moves up the Bosch performance ranking
2011 saw Bosch Singapore rising to become the second largest sales contributor for Bosch inSoutheast Asia, growing by 15 percent year on year to achieve net sales of SGD 228 million. Bosch's workforce in Singapore increased by 18 percent, employing over 700 associates across the company's four locations in Singapore as of January 2012.
Commenting on the business performance of Bosch in Singapore, Mr. Hayes said: "Our business divisions in Singapore experienced strong growth in FY2011 in relation to the rest ofSoutheast Asia, despite a slowdown in the economic climate. Most notably, the Thermotechnology division in Singapore more than doubled its sales revenue, while it achieved an overall about 50 percent in Southeast Asia, year on year."
Similarly, Security Systems achieved over 50 percent growth in Singapore, while sales inSoutheast Asia rose by around 10 percent. Drive & Control garnered an increase of almost 40 percent in Singapore and around 25 percent in the region; whilst the Automotive Aftermarket division attained over 20 percent growth in Singapore, and a sales increase of 15 percent across Southeast Asia.
Other divisions that posted growth include the Solar Energy division which grew about 70 percent in Southeast Asia as compared to the previous year, while Packaging Technology and Power Tools posted around 15 percent and 20 percent sales increase in the region respectively.
