Students travelling to and from lectures may no longer have to squeeze into packed buses under plans for a possible new transport network at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
The school wants developers to propose an "efficient, reliable, sustainable and environmentally friendly" system for the Kent Ridge campus and University Town (UTown).
This could involve anything from new, airport-style buses to an electric bicycle sharing system, experts told The Straits Times.
It would provide an alternative to the current shuttle bus service, which can get overcrowded during peak periods, when throngs of students finish lectures or arrive from Kent Ridge MRT station.
Here's an idea: WALK.
Back when I was in NUS, I would regularly walk from Kent Ridge MRT all the way to Engineering - and back.
The reason is because lots of gu niangs would crowd at the front doors of the buses instead of moving in.
Same goes for double-deckered no.95 - too many people who are too gu niang to walk up to the upper deck.
Till now, few NUS peeps realise that taking BTC shuttle or 151 from Botanic Gdns is also nearly as fast as taking train to KR.
Hope it stays that way....cos I have been avoiding the crowds that way.
And I havent taken 95 or 96 in ages for the same reason.
my era oredi quite sardined.
but luckily i dont need to take the shuttle bus much.
i had fren's lao pok car to tombang

Can anyone remember route 216? If it still survived, it would provide a link with Dover MRT on EWL.
How long does 151 take from Botanic Garden to Kent Ridge? Bukit Timah is a busy road, and there is also Ngee Ann Poly along the way.
