Future freshmen attend NUS Kent Ridge Hall Exposure Camp - Camp Blue Blood 2011
Eighty future freshmen, out of close to 150 hopeful applicants, got their first taste of hall life at Camp Blue Blood 2011. The camp is Kent Ridge Hall’s annual exposure event, a popular affair that allows prospective students to find out what hall life is all about.
The three-day camp kicked off on May 23 and was held on campus, at Kent Ridge Hall. Campers received a firsthand look at the hall’s facilities, spending two nights in rooms that were set aside especially for the camp. In addition, two straight days of classic camp games, including an afternoon at the campus pool, allowed campers to get to know their future Kent Ridge seniors as well as get a taste of hall culture.
Tan Chun Wui, who will be matriculating in August said, “As much as I hated having butter in my nose or toothpaste on my face, I thoroughly enjoyed having done such ridiculous things with such great people.”
In addition to the games, campers were treated to shows by Kent Ridge Hall’s various performing groups – which are known collectively as K6.
Fiona Wong, president of Kent Ridge Hall’s drama group, said, “I’m very excited to have seen so much potential in them, and I feel they’ll definitely fit well into the KR culture.”
The second-year arts student added, “I think the KR spirit really shone through to the campers.”
Although Camp Blue Blood is over, freshmen still have a chance to enjoy their own the Kent Ridge experience. However, they will have to hurry.
The deadline for hall stay application is at 11:59 pm on June 1. Those who wish to learn more about the process can contact the hall administrators at 6516 2077.
