Is NUSSU going to do something abt carpark fees? 90 cents per hr is no joke ...

Those ppl at the top will not be bothered with how much it is going to hurt the students pocket. "If you can't affort, den don drive." This is their ultimate goal; to reduce parking problem due to scarcety of land for parking in NUS.
Like it or not, eventually this scheme is going to be introduced to all carparks. If the demand for parking space is going to be inelastic, all the more merrier it is! They can reap some revenue from such source! -
I've just received the following email from a friend. Maybe those concerned abt this issue can go take a look.

paid parking lots on campus. NUS Students' Union would be organzing a Forum on Wednesday, 19 July at LT7 (Engineering) at 6pm regarding this issue. If you have views esp strong views abt this , pls do turn up. -
As i had mentioned, wat can they do? Nothing lah, even if they tried to hold that forum (which is really going to takke place), i don think anything significant is going to take place.
At the most, they will ask u guys to park at Kent Vale and allow free shuttle bus ride to campus proper. Or perhaps they going to take this opportunity to implement the park and Ride scheme like wat our SMRT is doing so as to earn more??
Juz wait and see lah.... they cant possibly give up the money spent on R&D on the so called "Smart Camera" so as to please the student population?
Do u guys think NUSSU can have the ablity to influence their decision?
[heheheh hope my predictions will be correct. Otherwise i may sound too arragant! On the other hand, i also wish NUSSU can alleviate the problem so that those really need to drive to campus will not have additional burdens!] -
On the other hand, we have to see whether NUS Admin is willing to listen to students' feedback or not?

Let me be mean here.
How about saying that how hard NUSSU will fight for the students in this case depends on how severe this issue affects themselves (i.e. committee members of NUSSU). I wonder how many of them are drivers themselves, maybe the more drivers there are in the committee, the more pressure they will give the admin people. Afterall, the president of NUSSU himself drives a very sleek car to NUS. -
I agree with sparkle. They (NUSSU)are surely going to more proactive to fight for a cause when they are affected by it. My guess is that the Admin with either not budge at all or just show a small insignificant reduction in the amount to be collected to show that "they care" about opinions.

I also heard about this issue from my classmate.
$0.90 per hour is expensive. The NUSSU is getting from bad to worst this few years. I really doubt the NUSSU can do much to help us. -
My fren suggested systematically sabotaging all the gantry posts in the dead of night.
all i can say is bravo, but dun get caught, at least till i graduate.
