Changes to NUS term calendar

It may interest all NUS students out there to know that there are plans to introduce a "summer holiday" like other overseas universities.
The preliminary plan is to implement a change in term calendar with effect from July 2001, affecting all current Year 1s, all current Year 2s doing Honours and subsequent intakes.
The term start will be pushed back to early August. Semester 2 will be unchanged. Your December holidays will be cut short and the Sem 1 exams pushed back. The Sem 2 holiday will thus be super long. Overall, the total number of school holidays in an academic year would remain unchanged.
Any opinions out there?

gee... why the sudden change? to be a world class uni perhaps, so must copy other ang moh uni and introduce the 'summer' vacation eventhough there's no summer in singapore.
actually, it's not going to affect mi but will that means the sem 1 exam will be near christmas? if yes, isn't that gonna be down?? -

I am not gonna be affected coz I am gonna be taking my final exams this coming April! :p
But, I am not sure whether is it good or bad for me. :p
Anyway, just taking a chance here to say a big hello to all ppl here.
Little intro: I am year 3 arts student majoring in economics and sociology. Hate econs but bo bian, seems the onlie marketable one for me to take. :p

From What I heard, it's marketable, but there is no demand for economists as all the old guys don't wanna step down, saturating the market (that's cos they ARE good, why do you think singapore is what it is today...)
