Cafe Cartel 'bullies' us because we are students
STOMPer Belinda and her classmates felt that they were discriminated at Café Cartel simply because they wore their school uniform to dine there.
In an email to STOMP today (Nov 16), the STOMPer wrote:
"Today, I was with my classmates at Cafe Cartel Plaza Singapura.
“The restaurant was very crowded and we were the only students there.
“I asked for an extra bowl and it never came, our spaghetti dish never arrived until we were talking about posting it on STOMP.
“Food arrived at the other tables fast but our numerous requests were not met.
“We feel that it is discrimination against students as we were the only students there and this is not the first time we were given poor service at a restaurant (that does not offer student meal) because we were in uniform.
“We are very unhappy that students should receive poorer service even if they feel that our presence would bring down the image of their restaurant.”Its common. Singapore practices some sort of class system here.

why u didnt complain to the restaurant manager? you should make a din there and then. that said, you can still make your complain now to the company.

cafe cartel (esp PS outlet) is famous for bad (or rather, non-existent) service.
not 4getting servers who do not understand english (but the menu all in english) -
complain to MOE lor.

actually, the one at IMM is worse..
the people all like the boss never pay them.. the boss kena come out to serve too but his face also like kena slapped by his wife in the morning..
they ran out of butter, asked politely if there was some more, was told curtly "wait!"
ribs were cold.. don't know why because there was enough staff and the place was only 3/4 full...
soup came after the main course...
bread wasn't refilled.. only 1/4 of small loaf left and i took it... i don't think it was refilled because someone was asking the boss.. but i think it wasn't refilled either...
asked for water but it took a long time before coming...
never again...
mostly, the staff all like people owe them... bad attitude.. all with face like someone ran over their dog like that..

well, on the other hand, I had had good experience with this @ cafe cartel @ J8 and IMM. though, they are not fluent in english, they do try to make us as comfortable. both times @ J8 or IMM, when they see me with my children, they do help to bring us some bread/butter so we don't have to fight with the many (Kiasu) people. Much appreciated. when we ask for children cutley and places/water, they were most gracious to help us.
Well, we do need to accomodate considering these things do happen. And ur money is not as big as a bull-cart wheel.

you pay for cheap food and you'll get a service that isn't comparable to high-end restaurants.
The only restaurant that I could think of that provides affordable food and good service is Macdonalds

I think its not necessary that you pay for cheap food and you get a poor service in return. Thats utterly ridiculous la.. In that sense, we should be cleaning our own tables and washing our own utensils for what we pay in hawker centers... lolz...
The issue here is generally with Singapore itself. The customer service is extremely bad. Give me $1000 and put me in Hong Kong, I will buy all kinds of things which I may not even need and still return home happy. Thats what customer service can do. But it does an "EPIC FAIL" in Singapore. Shopping in Singapore is boring. The salesmen/women don't even know what they are selling sometimes.
And as for Cafe Cartel at PS, I had to wait quite long for my food to arrive too. No water is provided immediately too. Have to ask for it. What a crappy way to begin a meal. Can't they learn even that much basic courtesy to offer water to their customers?
And students? Did you leave your table like that? If your behavior was even half bad as how bad your table is, you actually don't deserve any service.. lol..
