  Blk 247 has 4 sets of numbers to meet different purposes, says Jurong TC

  Although it is strange for this block in Jurong East to have four sets of numbers displayed, Jurong Town Council explains that the signs were put up at different times to overcome visibility problems caused by different factors.
  
  Aside from the original sign put up by HDB, another sign was painted on to increase the block's visibility during a re-painting project. 
  
  The remaining two signs were put up for trial and elimination in response to residents' feedback on poor visibility at night. One sign has since been chosen and the other removed.

   

  In a statement, a spokesperson from Jurong Town Council says:
  
  "Top most block number sign (non-lighted): This was painted on during the last repainting works to help distant drivers locate the block. 
  
  "Second block number sign from the top (non-lighted): It is the original block number sign put up by HDB. It is meant for pedestrians to identify the block 
  
  "Third and fourth block number sign from the top (illuminated): These were put up in response to requests from our residents as they were unable to see the block number signs at night. Two sample signage were put up at Blk 247 for us to evaluate their luminance. 
  
  "The 4th block number sign has since been selected and the 3rd one removed."
