SINGAPORE: More than 80,000 people have visited the new ice rink at shopping mall JCube in Jurong East since its soft launch in April.
The Olympic-sized rink is the first sports facility developed under the Community/Sports Facilities Scheme, which hopes to encourage the integration of community or sports facilities in private commercial developments.
Chairman of the
Singapore Sports Council Richard Seow said the Council is looking at
increasing the variety and accessibility of its sports facilities island
wide, as part of its new Sport Facilities Master Plan under Vision
2030.
The rink, which was officially opened on Sunday, will host
a speed skating competition and ice hockey league in the coming months.
