SINGAPORE: The S$15.6 million makeover for Clarke Quay is underway.
Block C and E along River Valley Road will be refurbished.
Its new facade will be designed to bring back the charm of old warehouses.
And the ground level of the multi-storey carpark, which faces River Valley Road, will be converted to a food centre.
To maintain the number of car park lots, a new level will be built at the top floor.
More than 10 new F&B tenants will join Clarke Quay after the upgrade.
Renovation works are expected to finish by the third quarter of this year.
Visitors can also expect an upgraded taxi stand and better washrooms.
There will be interactive directories, which will provide information about the retail outlets as well as upcoming events.
Clarke Quay is a key tourist destination in Singapore, with over 1 million visitors per month.
Centre
manager of Clarke Quay Keith Low said: "Today if you notice along the
Singapore River, it's so vibrant. So what we're doing is that we're
taking that vibrancy and bringing it to the side that is facing the
road, along River valley road, and to totally transform the whole
entrance of the other side of Clarke Quay."
