SINGAPORE : The Hua Song Museum located at Haw Par Villa at Pasir Panjang Road will close from Thursday.
A statement from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said the current operator, Siam Express, has decided not to renew its contract to maintain and operate the museum.
STB said it will take the opportunity to review the operations of museum.
It
added that discussions have already been initiated with potential
partners to keep alive the Chinese immigrant story that exists within
Hua Song Museum, and will share more details later on.
The museum was opened in March 2006 at a cost of S$7.8 million.
It was billed as a one-stop centre for visitors to learn the stories of Chinese living around the world.
Developed by the STB, the museum was first operated by Singapore Explorer.
Siam Express took over the running of the museum in 2009.
