Can we do this in the crapbox? I want the forum to go to the first page of the forum listing...
Converging / Diverging tracks:
Note: Due to Willis' developed of the roof at XPO station has meant to be a .rail 1;17 (Meaning the gap difference of your main line and the oppositie direction / next to it track), hence ALL train station must use a gap of 17 meters, or else when one try to put a roof on a route, example: Clementi - Commonwealth route, which Veyron use 15m instead, will result in awkard shape due to the platform and the track has overlapped.
And also, during the middle of the stations, or even at Dover / Fernvale (nobody has developed a Sengkang LRT line, but consider that it is a LRT, I am not sure by then will the vadicut use a different one, which the value WILL be different -- Just to OT a bit) case, the gap should be 4m. (And not 0m before 2 tracks overlapped / stacked at each other.)
Therefore, it is recommended that '13 blocks' before approaching and after leaving station should be for diverging / converging tracks and 1 block is 25 meters. Otherwise, there might be sharp edges etc, not nice and realistic.
However, I have yet to determine the best value for main line (Rail 0) because everytime I put .rail 0;10 (As an example), it will prompt that rail index must be positive. I know that I can use .curve but it becomes 2 tracks (Both directions) also curve the same direction, which defeat the purpose.

What I did was to calculate the length of the diverging/converging tracks on Google Earth (TIP #1) using the ruler function (TIP #2) and also estimate the "shape" (TIP #3) and just do it the trial and error way (TIP #4).

You cannot manipulate Rail '0' or the player's rail via .rail commands... :DYou can use .turn or .curve only.
Standards for tunnel gap.
In usual track between the 2 during the between of stations, it should be 4.
However, using such value when in the tunnel will prove to be problematic and the wires has overlapped on the wrong side. After a series of hacking, the minimal value should be approx. 4.985 (Not 4.984 but I did not try on 4.9849 etc). Thus, either that, or use a value of 5.
I'm proposing a new run sound for passing train, overground... Comments?

Go ahead. I need it, I can't find a suitable run sound from me and Flip's recordings.
Do we need run sounds for "passing train, overground"?
Voting open to all developers - answer "Yes" or "No". Also, give reasons, if possible.
Voting ends 23:59.59 hrs on 26 March 2010.
My vote:
YES. Need them, and Willis didn't like .doppler commands...

Not sure leh, but so far, if you need a passing train sound, you need a passing train first, so far there's only one passing train, and that passing train has a technical fault, and it's motors are turned off.

Thinking of converting C651 and C151 into passing trains... Will need it in the future, if not now. =D
And "raining, overground" run sounds? =D
I dunno if this is the right place to post these 2 points:
1: I would seriously request to all route developers to use
With Train
.Folder <Train Model> \<Train Set>
command in their routes
such as :
.Folder C151\131-132 , .Folder C651\219-220 OR .Folder C751B\311-312 (SBS7322B, feel free to update the XXX) etc.[Veyron16.4 updated the XXX for you, SBS7322B]
This is because as known, there are developers who want to train adverts which may not apply to certain trainset number. In this way, the default the train is always found and no need to manually search for the train. And of course, to train developers is to use such format of Train Model\Train Car Number\<Main thing, with the train.dat file>.
2: This had nothing to do with trains liao, but only routes. Due to the fact that NSL, EWL and CGL are interconnected, so may I ask each developers such that to use a common file on all routes, especially in future that there is a possibility of doing a AMK - PSR morning crossover train or any other such routes. It would be appericated if the specification is mentioned somewhere in the object file or here.
Eg: I would certainly hope to use the same file as NSL for JUR, while same as CGL for TNM sectors, but with different alignments due to rail 0's positioning. Because the fact is that there cant be different objects on the same place / sectors.
I would certainly be apperciated if my suggestion is accepted. Thanks.

Rejected partially. Backslash = another folder. Use C151[131-132] instead. That's how I rename my copy of all trains.

That is another suggestion. See how would the train developers named their folders. If they want a C151[131-132] and inside there got a train.dat, then all shall unify and use that. If not, then C151\131-132. To me, it makes no difference, so long as no need for manual choose trains. I think there are people tried the randomization issue, should not be a trouble for incorporating such suggestion.
OK - I made a PowerPoint presentation with my skills... Here are all the options:
Errata: 1 error found.
1) In Option 3, The second ornag box from the top should say: "<Trainset Number> [<Advert>]" instead of "<Trainset Number>; <Advert>".

Damn cute lah u, need to use Powerpoint just for that!? Still got "A 2010 Graphical Production by and JoeyFoo" somemore......!!??
Edited: Why not include each options pros and cons??
I dunno whether is it suitable to ask this question here or not:
How to converge and diverge when approaching a station or leaving a station?
Not too sure...have to ask one of the moderators, preferably willischong.

I think I will ask Samuel via MSN chat tonight.

Lol! I think u got some of the EWL routes or even NSL released version. All these should be sufficient to do the converge / diverge. Like how u do the crossovers.
.Rail 1;X
.Rail 1;X
Dont forget to use .curve X to turn the track with a curve. (And remember to .curve -X in order to "restore" the curve turned, or else the alignment gone)
