illuminating!
what if a much of a which of a wind
gives the truth to summer's lie;
bloodies with dizzying leaves the sun
and yanks immortal stars awry?
Blow king to beggar and queen to seem
(blow friend to fiend: blow space to time)
—when skies are hanged and oceans drowned,
the single secret will still be man
what if a keen of a lean wind flays
screaming hills with sleet and snow:
strangles valleys by ropes of thing
and stifles forests in white ago?
Blow hope to terror; blow seeing to blind
(blow pity to envy and soul to mind)
—whose hearts are mountains, roots are trees,
it's they shall cry hello to the spring
what if a dawn of a doom of a dream
bites this universe in two,
peels forever out of his grave
and sprinkles nowhere with me and you?
Blow soon to never and never to twice
(blow life to isn't:blow death to was)
—all nothing's only our hugest home;
the most who die, the more we live

It is ok and normal to have thoughts when meditating. Never try hard not to have thoughts when meditating. In fact, it is not normal if you don't have thoughts when meditating, afterall we are humans. Just let the thoughts come and go naturally, don't be attached to them and slowly you will find inner peace.
I also had trouble sitting and keeping still alone in my room, thoughts of opposite sex and leisure will enter my mind.
perhaps u need first to find the right system which suits your body and mind so as to focus on meditation...
Gautama tried many ways to meditate....but finally found the right way through trial and error....before he became enlightened...
Right system? What do you mean?In terms of posture or what?In the past, when my mom took me to the temple,I also had trouble mediating even I was sitting in front of the altar.
Just want to ask if it is safe to take books which are placed at places like vegetarian stalls and shops to read.

Let whatever thoughts or images come and go, don't be attached to them. There were images of people whom I do not know appeared when I was meditating. I was not disturbed by them because I was told by my teacher who taught me meditation that as time goes by, there will be images of my past lifes appear during meditation, don't let them bother me.
So where can we learn mediation?
there are many ways to meditation ...find a way that suits you,....
some may think finding right place or time...but there isn't any such best time/ place....or one may think they need to be vegetarian in order to master meditation...again that is a misperception....
so u have to try out the one way that suits you and only you....
Dawn is still the best person to advise.....she's the expert here....

It is not advisable to learn meditation from books or video clips. It is more advisable to learn from people (Venerables or experienced person). The safest is to get the books from Buddhist temples like Buddhist Lodge, Kong Meng San Phor Khark Si (Bright Hill Temple) etc. If you are not a Buddhist yet, you can't tell which books are true Buddhism and which are not.

The experts are at Wisdom Bliss. I'm not as experienced as them. AEN is an expert.
I am currently exploring Taoist and Buddhist teachings.I am just reading the books casually.Thanks.
Dawn....u r ever so humble.....
but one thing is quite sure.....breathing technique is a crucial element....like what Dawn has said....naturalness and do not de-code thoughts.....let it go.....do not brood...
