Setting the real example

There was one part when Cao Cao order his soldiers not to meddle with the farmers wheats plantation and those who disobey will be executed. However, he accidently fell into the wheat plantation and damage the crops and ask his general to kill him yet his general did not do so. Is there a real example that he have shown or one of his general can stand in to die for him to enforce the message of the real example.

the general have no choices.. if he kill cao cao he will b deem as rebel -
Cao Cao would rather betray the world, than the world betray him. I think Cao Cao cut his hair instead of his head as punishment. Cause at that time( Han Dynasty) cutting hair was also a type of punishment/sin.
If not why those ancient historical people never cut their hair,including beard, and instead tie them up?
