hi guys,
anyone who has visited old trafford can give some travel tips?
am going to london for business and thinking of hopping over to manchester to watch the norwich game.
any past experience to share for hotel to stay, commuting, stadium tour and acquiring tickets?
appreciate it and thanks in advance!
Old Trafford is actually in Salford, just outside Manchester city centre. It is technically walkable from the city centre (took me around 1hr to walk there on Christmas Day where there was totally no one around). If you are pressed for time, just take the Manchester Metrolink from Manchester Piccadilly (i.e. the City Centre). On matchdays, there would be helpers there who will probably know that you are going to Old Trafford.
Alight at the Old Trafford stop and the Old Trafford football stadium (there is a separate Old Trafford Cricket Stadium) is around a 10 minute walk away haha.
Also, tickets-wise... you can get decent seats in the North Stand (i.e. the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand which is always on the top side of tv telecasts) for 40+ pounds. However, you can only buy tickets online if you have the Manchester United subscription card (which costs another 40+ pounds annually). If not, your best bet would be to go there early and queue up. Avoid the away fans' zone (South-East stand), especially when you are a Man Utd supporter haha.
