Hi guys.. I'm planning to go on a trip to HK for the 1st time and am unsure whether it is easy to get around there. Some say it resembles a bigger equivalent of Orchard road in Sg but i'm worried about the communication barrier as i don't speak Cantonese at all. Also planning to go for some night life over there but was wondering if it's hard to navigate for happening clubs there to party. Anyone here knows what are the places best for shopping for guy's clothes and shoes ? Are the places for good food and shops mostly in certain areas like eg: Kowloon and Tsim sha tsui? Sorry for the many questions as this is my 1st time planning to go for a trip there
hmm the hong kong ppl can speak chinese, esp the younger generation now..and english is quite widely spoken too..fyi english is one of their formal languages..
places to shop: harbour city, ladies' market, temple street night market,
places to eat: tim ho wan(great dimsum yum yum!!), kam wah cafe, lam kee etc ..hong kong simply has too many good food hehe
Hi
I was there in October last year and i had a good time there. The MTR there like Singapore MRT are very good easily accessible to most Hong Kong tourist attractions like Ngong Ping 360, Disneyland and so on. the taxis are good too because there use meter and sometimes better than taking train.
Tips on public transport in Hong Kong
1) when you planning to take train, be sure to buy their tourist pass, it is much cheaper
2) Hong Kong is separated by a waterway connected with a tunnel, don't take taxi through the tunnel cause you will be charge additional HK$60 (i can't really remembr how much) just to cross the tunnel. Better to take the train accross then take taxi.
3) Take the ferry across the waterway, cheap and fast
Kowloon is definitely the best place to stay because it is near to most attractions and shopping
