  i'm being serious.
  you go with agency will get ripped off (both in time and in money).

   

  might as well fly there to Hanoi and buy a local package tour for like one-fifth of what you would expect to pay in Singapore. Go to Sapa near Lao Cai as well. The train trip is overnight and a PITA but it is worth the trouble.
