If you are going to japan after ur O lvls...
Try booking ANA or UA flights. No use trying to book flights on budget carriers as usually their savings only comes into effect when u book way in advance.
My advice is to fly their new daily direct into HND. Its closer to the city and you can save time travelling.
If you are looking to get around the whole of japan, i would suggest that u buy the JR Rail pass. Please buy it when u are still in Singapore as they dont sell it in Japan. With the pass, you can travel on all JR trains (and some JR buses) around japan. top up with abit of cash and u can travel on the Shinkansen.

Where do they sell the JR Rail pass in Singapore?
for everyone's info..
1. Air-ticket wise, go check with JAL or ANA ticket office directly, you may get it cheaper like under $700 to/fro Tokyo or Internet. Don't go to a ticketing agent like a tour agency
2. Try staying in Youth hostel, i may be cheaper. Join a hi-hostel member at $20 and it can save you from $5-$12 daily.
3. Go check out the JR pass and buy them when there is a promotion. For example, they had a 3 day JR pass at $160 (any 3 days and no need for consecutive days). Use it for long distance on the bullet train to go further
4. For 500 to 800 yen, you will be eating Ramien everyday....
5. Try cooking yourself especially if you have kaki
6. Bring own water bottle. It can cost you up from $2.40 per bottle if you buy outside. There's alway free flow water when you have your meal.
7. There's still entrance fees to consider, eg...cable car ride
8. For so many days, Junyang estimate is reasonable.
9. You may also look for free-pass tickets for places like Fuji,Hakone, Kamakura etc.....
10. Since you are going on DIY, read up...
The Singapore in the Legend is negligible.
really ah.. how come?

Cos too small.... cant even see where Singapore is on the map...

we are not named land of red dot, blue dot, black dot whatever colored dot for nothing, as the diamond shaped island is not clearly visible on the world map, only the dot indicating SG is more visible hence the red dot.
There will be absolutely no problems related to his age. Children travelling alone can be registered with the carrier as unaccompanied minors (airline reps will accompany them through immigration and the flight until they meet a waiting guardian at the destination), but he's already too old to qualify for that.
so I book like any other adult?
As long as you (or your parents) pay for the ticket, you can fly.
Is it your first time travelling solo? I cannot emphasise enough the importance of research, and even then you should expect surprises and make room for them. I don't know you and I won't try to guess your street smartness, but it's not for weak hearts. Here are a few tips anyway (link).

I think they need to verify the credit card these days... was asked to show my credit card when i reached the counter....

Airlines wise... (Direct Flights)
Singapore Airlines
DELTA Airlines
Japan Airlines
All Nippon Airlines
United Airlines
(Non-direct flights)
Cathay Pacific (Via Hong Kong)
Eva Air (Via Taipei)
China Airlines (Via Taipei)
Air China (Via Beijing)
Jetstar Airways (Via Taipei, doesnt fly to Tokyo)
Accomodation for Japan is about $60 per night at least (budget accomodation).
Without food and drinks accomodation would cost you about SGD $1,800.
Food wise one meal in Japan is about 500 - 800 yen ($7.80 - $12.50).... so X 3 would be $35 a day.... One month of meals will cost you about $1050.
Without travelling and just staying at the hotel, you will incur about $2,850.
Air ticket to Tokyo is about $800 - $1000, since its peak period.
You would probably spend about $60 a day for places of attractions.
$60 X 30 = $1800
Transportation per day would cost you about $8 a day...
$8 X 30 = $240
Air Ticket = $1000
Accomodation = $1800
Food = $1050
Places of Attractions = $1800
Transportation = $240
TOTAL: $5890
Play Safe: $6000
Jetstar flies to Osaka Kansai via Taipei Taoyuan (ex CKS).
If you're going after O levels, forget about booking with SQ, prices are so crazy it is almost a no-brainer.
And yes, HND is nearer than NRT, but at what cost? From Nov'10, SQ does NRT and HND 2x daily each, but very bad arrival times. Forget about NH (ANA) and JL (Japan Airlines)...
This is for ANA.
Tokyo Haneda – Singapore v.v Daily 767-300ER service
(C35Y179)
NH151 HND2330 – 0620+1SIN 763 D
NH152 SIN2200 – 0600+1HND 763 D
This is for JL.
Tokyo Haneda – Singapore v.v (JL711/710 Narita service
canceled)
JL035 HND2350 – 0630+1SIN 767 D
JL036 SIN2215 – 0555+1HND 767 D
(In addition to existing daily NRT - SIN v.v flight)
DL and UA are a bit cheaper than JL, NH, and SQ.
You could try 3K's TPE-KIX inbound, and fly out from NRT via UA/DL.
Non-direct flights are a pain to connect. Trust me, have done this before, and if your inbound flight is delayed, say bye bye to your connection.
Air tickets are gonna cost more than SG$1,288 both ways mate...
SG$800 to 1K is a gross undervaluation. Factor in taxes also.

UA doesn't fly SIN-HND. Only NH. And they are going to cost a bomb due to the HND connectivity factor compared to NRT flights.
The hour n a half train ride for NRT to the citycentre might still be mitigated by horrendous arrival times due to curfew at HND.
Give and take, depend on situation.

I know Dynasty Travel is the licensed wholesale dealer for Eurail Passes, and should have JR Rail passes as well.

Checked up ANA, no way you're gonna get near SGD$700 for that peak season.
Did up Early-Mid Dec and return first few days of Jan11, and result was about SGD$1200 excess including taxes and the like. Nov travel is a bit out, given O's end early to mid Nov? Not to sure when Os end this year.

Just came back from Italy n Switzerland two days ago...
Planned my trip 6hrs before flight departed, booked ticket 3hrs before flight departure, and went straight in to Milan MXP.
Needless to say, I wasted a whole day in Milan trying to find out where to go and the like... But if TS is as fast and mobile as me and cover destinations quick, I don't see why TS would need an xtended stay in Japan.

Did you book with the airline online? I prefer to do it in person and haven't experienced that before.

e-tickets, pple dun really check.
for instance, i even went to the counter without my printed e-ticket, just told them my name, no need credit card or anything at all, just passport, and they checked me in.
I don't think TS would face a lot of probs... Unless you come out of Europe, where some of them are seriously anal and like Nazis about it.

He wants snow and all the major attractions in Japan, which is ambitious, of course. But if he simply wants to say that he saw them and take photos, then a lot of things can be squeezed in.
lol i don't mind skipping a few attractions.. whats the point of taking photos lol. i might as well do it on the internet.. hmm so what should i do about the airline tickets then....

But Japan is hard to go if u have a tight budget.
I remember the last time I went to Tokyo for three nights and four days, and blew SGD$3k on the basic necessities (air ticket, food, budget accommodation, local transport).
SGD$4.2k won't get one very far even with a lot of saving in Japan...

Unless we have more details on when u wanna go (exactly), and other miscellanous stuff, there is little that we can help.
go buy ps2 console and buy Yakuza 2 game.its got realistic japanese streets from osaka to all busy sightseeing prefectures, language n social culture of modern japan.
its only $100....or cheaper for game n console.
n u can fight and bash thugs n other yakuzas too with bare hands and weapons on streets and its all laced with authentic japanese artistry.
