-How do they calculate air cost , i seen an airline offer 400++ , is it that simple ? how much is the tax ? Is there any hidden charge ?
- Taiwan , which part of it worth going ? Any tips to where to go and look out for ?
- Which kind of hotel is more economy and not so cheapskate

Good Hotels :
Grand Hyatt Hotel (Taipei)
Parkview Hotel
Kaoshiung Citizen Hotel
If you want to flag a cab, flag it with one finger. If you flag it with 5 fingers, 5 cabs will come to you.
Taipei 101 and Ximending good shopping areas. Night Markets are nice too, although it will be human - flooded.
You can also see a "Merdragon" near a river in Kaoshiung.
"Merdragon" is something like Merlion.
why 1 finger
thx , but can advise me more on buying ticket part ?
coz i donno how the calculate later the air ticket from $400+ , can end up paying $800

I went last time with my friends... total 4 of us... just like ya case...
I spent about $1000 for the whole trip lasting 1 week... we stayed in a hotel that was located near the ximending... it was quite cheap.. if i remember correctly its only 20 plus sing per person per night.. but sorrie i cant remember the name of the hotel..
go to the night markets... all of them must go and you will definitely enjoy... go find taiwan chicks if you want too... sweet young things...
It depends on which airlines u are taking..I bought the jetstar round tickets @ 470/- two years ago..i think it should cost you around 500/- plus now..
u may go to Jiufen by taking train, followed by bus..it's very near to Taipei..around one hour trip.. i strongly recommend u to stay one night in jiu fen.. so u could take one day to explore the mysteries and beautiful scene at jiu fen..i like the yun zai shan fang ming shu very much.. the owners are nice and helpful.. they would share with u their stories, jiu fen history and take u to the gold mine..u may check out their website... early booking is advisable... http://www.cafe27.net/
You have decide what is your focus of your trip.
If you like the urban area more, you can stay in Taipei more.
Or else you can travel southern for more local stuff.
For Taipei, try to stay near Xi Men Ding and MRT station.
The MRT station is good enough to bring you to major attraction, followed by the local buses.
Please remember to bring some one that can READ chinese or else you need to ask a lot.
The only damper for Taiwan is the weather.
You have to check the weather prediction before you go.
Or else you end up stuck in your hotel watching TV.
Remember to take the lift at the 101 building.
You have to pay but it is worth it.
lai lai let old man here give u my 2 cents worth,
-What are the estimated budget if i want to go taiwan around 5 days
Depends on whether you are more to sightseeing or shopping. Generally, the street stuffs there are about the same price as singapore, might be a little cheaper, just a little. Food also around the same, but you can expect more unique stuffs than in singapore.

From my knowledge, the cheapest is Jetstar asia, expect to pay below 450-500 per pax to and fro. Different airlines have different fuel and surcharges.

In short,
Sightseeing= the rest of taiwan.
Shopping= taipei
- Which kind of hotel is more economy and not so cheapskate
asiarooms websites, cuz i always go there for bargain. old man is a cheapo.
- What to be careful of
hmm... nothing to be careful of. taiwan is relatively a safe country. nice folks.
my 1 more cents worth,
when on vacation, try not to go with a general singaporean mentality. Some places might be more laid back, the pace might be slower. just go with the flow and enjoy!

That is Paradise Hotel 3 Star Only, that's why so cheap.
if go there is to shop, most of the time the room will be just a dumping ground for your loot.. :P
anyway if there's lomantic ambience required, do visit Dan Shui lover's bridge.. take the mrt to Dan Shui, it's like from city hall to pasir ris! hahaha.. then change a bus... go at night is nice.. but.. I went in the afternoon with a bunch of guys.. haha!
