January 19, 2015 16:46 PM Johor Plans New Tourist Attraction In Pontian PONTIAN, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- The Johor government plans to establish new attractions in this town to draw more tourists, said State Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong. He said the Pontian District Council plans included the building of a new landmark in this town and the painting of murals on the walls of buildings. "The 3D murals would beautify the buildings. At the same time, the signboards would be revised to make it easier for tourists," he told reporters after taking a first-hand look at several tourism products in the district on Sunday. Accompanying him was Pontian District Council president Suhairi Hashim. Tee, who is the state assemblyman for Pulai Sebatang, said the efforts to transform Pontian were expected to be completed by August this year. A week-long festival was also being planned in August for small- and medium-scale traders, he said. Tee said that besides the town centre, the Pontian district was also rich in many types of natural tourist attractions which could generate the economy. "Existing tourist attractions, including the Tanjung Piai National Park; Pulau Kukup National Park; Pineapple Museum; Bugis Museum and the seafood restaurant in the Kukup Laut fishing village, would continue to be promoted," he said. January 25, 2015 15:15 PM Shopping Centres In Johor Urged To Spruce Up Decorations To Attract More Tourists JOHOR BAHARU, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Shopping centres in the state have been urged to spruce up decorations throughout the year so as to attract more tourists and increase revenue. Chairman of the Johor Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs committee Datuk Tee Siew Kiong said innovative decorations were needed so that these centres were on par with international-level shopping malls to attract tourists. "According to statistics from Tourism Malaysia, shopping is the second biggest source of foreign exchange revenue in the country after accommodations, at about RM19.77 billion in 2013," he said after officiating the launch of the Chinese New Year celebrations at the Komtar Johor Baharu City Centre (Komtar JBCC) shopping complex here Saturday. Tee said besides decorations, activities and programmes related to the festival held at the shopping centres were also encouraged. Since last Wednesday, one week before Chinese Lunar New Year, Malaysian Chinese working and living in Johor Bahru are already taking leaves from their work place to return to their respective kampungs/homes in other parts of Peninsula Malaysia or Sabah and Sarawak, to celebrate Chinese New Year with their family at their parent's or family's homes. Chinese students in Malaysia (especially Chinese Schools) are given extended school holidays by their respective schools of about one week during the Chinese New Year because of the distance of their kampung, though the official holidays are only for two days in Malaysia. During the two days official CNY holiday in Johor Bahru, some shops in the Shopping Malls will be close and some will be open, Non-Chinese staffs will be present to serve you. If you are visiting your Chinese friends in Johor Bahru on the eve of CNY or throughout the CNY celebration, you will witness constant fireworks and fire crackers display within the neigbhourhood, especially in the evening. It will be like WW3 and you can really feel the CNY mood festival celebration in Johor Bahru and other parts of Malaysia.

One instinctive observation that tourists will notice while visiting Johor Bahru is that most of the staffs in the retail, hospitality, F&B or service industries are attractive or handsome young staffs....very rare you see old workers (those 40 and above) serving the customers.

Hello Terry. The Management Of Seni Plaza is on 2nd or 3rd floor of Plaza Seni car park. In the past it used to be RM230 I think, now I've no idea how much is the monthly car park fee. If you want to ask me question just pm me. -
