Adebayor - This was our best performance yet
Emmanuel Adebayor believes that Tuesday nightÂ’s 7-0 thrashing of Slavia Prague was one of the best displays his team has produced.
Many observers thought Arsenal would struggle this term but, two months in, they sit comfortably on top of Champions League Group H and the Premier League.
It was the Gunners' 12th victory in a row and was a shining example of the strides this young team has made in recent months.
“We did everything right tonight,” said Adebayor. “We scored seven goals. For me I think it’s one of the best performances we have made, playing the way we did and enjoying ourselves.”
The Togolese star was not among the goals himself but praised his strike partner Theo Walcott, who became the first English player to score a European goal on home soil for Arsenal in four years.
“He is very easy to play with and we all know his qualities,” said the 23-year-old. “He is very fast so can go in behind and he plays very good football so we could enjoy ourselves on the pitch.”
Walcott had been handed a starting berth in place of the injured Robin van Persie, and Adebayor knows that whoever plays up front, the result remains the key issue.
“The most important thing is for the team to win,” he said. “No matter if it is me that gets injured or like Robin has done, the players that come in have to do something special.
“Theo has proved we can believe in everyone in our squad because today he starts and scored two goals. Bendtner also came in and scored which proves we can believe in every single member of the squad and that is very good for us.” -
