Cesc Fabregas says the Arsenal team will rally around Jens Lehmann after his error in the 1-1 draw at Blackburn on Sunday. After 71 minutes at Ewood Park, the German keeper let David Dunn’s long-range effort slip through his fingers to hand the home side a priceless equaliser. Arsène Wenger said that the 37-year-old was ‘upset and down’ in the dressing room after the game but Fabregas said the team would be standing behind him.
“When I make a mistake I don’t like people shouting at me,” said the 20-year-old midfielder. “I just have to think about what I did wrong and put it right. Now Jens has to think about it himself but of course we are all alongside him. He does not have to apologise.
“This is a team. Since the beginning of the season we said we will always be together. We are together now and we are strong. We showed that at Blackburn. There was one mistake and we lost two very important points. But it is still very early [in the season].”
