Arsène Wenger may “rebalance” his side for some of those tough away trips next season.
Arsenal improved their record on the road last term but still have a tendency to drop points in unexpected places. For example four of their seven away defeats in the Premiership during 2006-07 came at teams who went on to finish in the bottom seven.
Wenger still believes consistency away from home is an issue and wants more out of his young side next season.
“It was less [of a problem] than last year,” he said. “But we have still not taken enough points. You look at the table and it tells you a lot.
“Firstly [we can improve] by showing that we have learned a lot but also by rebalancing the structure of our team in these kinds of games.”
Speaking before the weekend game with Portsmouth, Wenger went on to outline that, while this had been a development season for his young side, he had discovered new things about himself as well.
"What I learnt about myself was not to panic by using the experience I had from previous years,” he said. “In the crucial part of this season when we went out against Eindhoven the important thing was to keep belief in these players because they paid us back in an outstanding way. Many clubs could have collapsed after that."
