Reyes could join Atletico
Arsene Wenger has held direct talks with Atletico Madrid about offloading Jose Antonio Reyes, according to media reports.
EFE claims the Arsenal boss has been to the Spanish capital to negotiate a permanent switch for the Spain international, only weeks after Atletico declared they were not interested in his services.
Reyes joined Real Madrid on a loan deal at the beginning of the season, with Julio Baptista moving the other way.
However, neither player's loan spell proved successful, with Arsenal agreeing that Baptista will return to Spain and Real Madrid stating they are not interested in signing Reyes on a permanent deal.
Reyes has also made it clear he would not welcome a return to English football in the summer, as he struggled with the climate and family problems while in London.
As a result, Arsenal now want to get a deal arranged as quickly as possible so Wenger can begin searching for a replacement.
And it is believed Atletico Madrid could now be ready to bring in the former Sevilla star, which could pave the way for Martin Petrov to leave the club.
Tottenham are said to be interested in the Bulgarian, who has spent the majority of the current campaign on the sidelines with a knee ligament injury. -

Tottenham and Arsenal are ready to renew North London hostilities over the signing of West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker.
The England Under-21 international has slapped in a transfer request at Upton Park and will be allowed to leave if any club matches the Hammers' £8million valuation on him.
The former Wimbledon star's advisor, Tony Finnigan, said: "I can confirm that Nigel has handed in a transfer request. I am surprised as captain he is being allowed to leave.
"At the end of the day he never felt wanted but I am sure he will have a bright future elsewhere."

for the 2 midfield berths, we have bert, diaby, cesc and denilson
and Bert and cesc are almost guaranteed the 2 spots when fully fit. Diaby and denilson are also 2 youngsters that look real talented, so i dun see AW selling them off -

Arsenal to offer £8M for West Brom's Davies
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is planning an £8 million bid for West Brom captain Curtis Davies.
The Mirror says Wenger sees Davies as the man to strengthen his defence next season and is prepared to offer £8 million to see off competition from Newcastle and Tottenham.
West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace and manager Tony Mowbray were due to speak with Davies today, who is understood to have been told he could leave the Hawthorns this summer should their promotion push fail.

Gunners bid to pocket Bak
ARSENAL are close to signing Auxerre right-back Bakari Sagna for £6million.
Sagna, recently voted FranceÂ’s best player in his position by his fellow players, was in the national squad for the first time for SaturdayÂ’s Euro 2008 qualifying win over Ukraine.
Auxerre are aware of the GunnersÂ’ interest and admit they are likely to lose their 24-year-old star, whose career took off after a switch of postion from centre-forward.
Manager Jean Fernandez said: “The ideal thing would be for him to stay another year but that appears difficult.”
