Kolo Toure has admitted Arsenal are jealous of Chelsea's success and that their poor start to the season cost them dear.
The Gunners have now gone two years without lifting silverware after winning the FA Cup against Manchester United back in the 2004/05 campaign.
Arsenal won just one of their opening three league fixtures last August and Toure felt too much ground was lost between themselves and champions Chelsea.
The Blues were recently contending for The Quadruple and the Ivory Coast international has conceded Arsenal wish they had been in their shoes.
"We are jealous," he said on Chelsea's success in the Daily Express. "Arsenal are one of the really big teams.
"It is frustrating watching these other teams in the Champions League and fighting for the Premiership.
"We need to be winning trophies every season, and we are sad we have not managed that.
"Why has it happened? We didn't play well at the start.
"After three games we were seven points behind Chelsea and that made it difficult.
"We have not won games we should have done."
Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly casting their eye over 22-year-old Poland international keeper Lukasz Fabianski.
Wenger is keen to bring in cover for Jens Lehmann and believes the Legia Warsaw shot-stopper would provide decent cover.a
