In demand: Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Thibaut Courtois
Chelsea have signed Italy U17 goalkeeper Luca Savelloni, 16, for £1.7m from Pescara.
The deal was announced with Real Madrid considering a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as they start the search for Iker Casillas’s long-term replacement.
Chelsea signed the Belgian from Genk for £7.9million in the summer, but immediately sent him out on loan to gain first-team experience with Atletico Madrid.
The 19-year-old has impressed observers with 11 clean sheets in 24 La Liga appearances and, according to Spanish newspaper AS, his form has not gone unnoticed at the Bernabeu.
Courtois feels comfortable in Spain and has reaffirmed his desire to stay with Atleti beyond the end of his current deal.
‘Chelsea know that I want to stay in Madrid, but the decision is up to them,’ he said.
‘For me, I know nothing. It is just a case of waiting to see what happens. I think they will accept it because they know that I enjoy it here.’
