Furious supporters turned on chairman Bruce Buck and chief executive Ron Gourlay at a stormy meeting before voting to reject the club's proposals to re-purchase the club's stadium in order to help the search for a new ground.
Buck and Gourlay will now have to go back to Abramovich with their tails between their legs to sort out a new strategy after they spectacularly misjudged the mood of the Chelsea Pitch Owners (CPO).
But Buck urged everyone to rally around the club ahead of Saturday's massive London derby against Arsenal.
Buck said: "Roman is disappointed but respects that the Chelsea Pitch Owners have spoken.
"I don't view this as us against you or we against they. We are all Chelsea fans.
"I can only hope that on Saturday we can all get together, support the club and beat the c**p out of Arsenal."
But for more than three hours, it was Buck, Gourlay and the CPO board who took a good kicking.
Tim Rolls, of the Say No CPO campaign, said: "What we have done is to make the club and CPO think more about the proposal and the way it was handled.
"It was a PR disaster from start to finish.
"The club does not understand the fans."
The CPO was founded in 1993 to buy the freehold of Stamford Bridge when developers were threatening to bulldoze Chelsea's home.
The Blues want to buy it back so they can sell it for redevelopment to fund any move to a new ground.
But fans who stumped up to buy shares to save the club 18 years ago were spitting with rage that 20 unknown investors had bought 2,000 new shares AFTER Chelsea made their announcement on October 3.
Yet it soon became clear Chelsea would not secure the 75 per cent of votes they needed, polling just 61.6 per cent.
Gourlay said: "We thought we had a very good proposal. We had hoped to come out with a win."
Haiz
hope Arsenal can really win an away game
or draw =.=
chelsea quite strong at home leh. I go for chelsea's win, as arsenal never do well against chelsea, home or away for many a seasons now.
in 5 minutes chelsea broke arsenal's offside trap 3 times but failed to score any goals.
arsenal missed 2 super chances in a few minutes.
lampard scored.
Santos and Walcott scored
Chelsea 2-3 Arsenal !!!
this chelsea manager really cmi.
under mourinho chelsea were defensively strong. but this chelsea sucks.
chelsea let in 5 goals at stamford bridge.

arsenal are alive again. they are now back in contention for the CL position.

ty Robin Van Persie
was stunned at Juan mata goal

I think Benitez and Eriksson are available at this point in time.

I think any chapalang manager would have been able to lead Chelsea to their current position in the table.
It's the players.
Not the manager in this case.
Someone has to do a banana skin .gif for Terry like the UCL penalty slip.
Just now during the match towards the endind part when the score was still 2-3 to Arsenal, I was at the Singtel shop and there was like quite a crowd catching this match on its big screen... Then Mata scored there was a soft shout Goal! But the crowd wasn't that happy... Minutes later Van Persie scored... The Terry slipped one, and the crowd went like Goal!!! Many started to smile and some even laugh at Terry... Finally when Van Persie scored again... The crowd seemed happy.
I have to say when Mata scored, i thought it would end in a draw or Chelsea might win but... How strange things happen, normally it's the team who equalized goes on to win cos the momentum is with the team who equalized and the one who concede will feel the greater pressure. But it wasn't to be in this case... Anyway, Terry alway gets it when he comes up against Van Persie...
Who passed the ball back to Terry ar? If i were Terry I'd give him a good rollicking!

i believe most neutrals prefer arsenal to chelsea.
John Terry didn't slipped... He threw himself to the ground knowing he had no chance getting to that awful backpass...
High line problems lah...
Chelsea defence dont have the speed to play highline anymore...
I think they were too eager to continue to pressure Arsenal and get the win right after just equalizing and forgot to concentrate on defending...
And Terry isn't one of the fastest centre-backs around, in fact I think he is one of the slowest in terms of pick-up speed and overall, I think it's his weakest part of his game...
But credit to the gunners for not letting their heads dropped after Mata scored...
Actually there were many unexpected moments too like Cech getting beaten on his near post not once but twice... and also the through the legs from Santos... Cech normally very good with this but not yesterday...
But I have to say the 4th goal really killed Chelsea's night and Arsenal is still very much a one man team. Take out Van Persie and it could all be so different for them...
