Something to shout about: Eto'o will net roughly £350,000 a week
Samuel Eto’o will become the world’s top-earning footballer on Monday when he completes his staggering move from Inter Milan to Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Cameroonian’s agent claims the £22million deal will be completed imminently, with Eto’o set to pocket an astonishing £18millon per year in wages, amounting to roughly £350,000 each week.
‘The signing of the deal will likely take place on Monday or Tuesday at the latest, as long as Samuel successfully completes his medical,’ Claudio Vigorelli said.
Reports in Russia claim that Anzhi owner Suleiman Kerimov, who is not only a billionaire but also a Russian senator, is also targeting Barcelona’s Brazil defender Dani Alves in a possible £35million move.
Anzhi have only had one full season back in the Russian top flight but they have become major players since they were bought by Kerimov, who has poured money into the club.
Despite the dangers in Dagestan, where a low-level Islamic insurgency has made the republic unstable, Anzhi have already managed to attract players such as Roberto Carlos and Yuri Zhirkov.
They play their home matches in Makhachkala but the players live and train in Moscow for security reasons.
Meanwhile, Cameroonian defender Benoit Angbva, who currently plays for Anzhi, said he was the man who had initiated Eto’o’s transfer to the club.

‘We talked with Samuel in June, just before the friendly match between Russia and Cameroon,’ Angbva said.
‘He sent a message to the Dagestan club with me, saying, “If Anzhi are ready to buy me, I will come”.
‘I told him everything about the club, the training base, the players and the team’s future prospects. Samuel believed me and later talked to the club owner, Suleiman Kerimov. In short, it was me who initiated this transfer.
1.2m a month for kicking balls around, much better than steve jobs racking his brains out for apple!
Jobs billionaire cannot compare lah... Even if he plays for 5 yrs still only $100m.
a most obvious case of money laundering.................
The Cameroon striker, 30, will pocket a mind boggling £345,000 per week AFTER tax with Anzhi agreeing a £22million transfer fee for his services.
A statement on Anzhi's website read: "Today an agreement was reached between the football clubs, Anzhi and Inter, for the transfer of Samuel Eto'o.
"The terms of the transfer are completely agreed on both sides.
"Anzhi expresses gratitude to the leadership of Inter Milan for their professional and constructive approach in the negotiations.
"Tomorrow the player will undergo a medical examination, following which the player will be awarded a three-year contract.
"On Thursday, Samuel will arrive at the location of his new team and will begin preparations for the match against FC Rostov."
Anzhi are owned by billionaire Russian Suleyman Kerimov and also have Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos and former Chelsea player Yuri Zhirkov on their playing staff.
