Up for grabs: Kaka (left) in training with team-mates Lassana Diarra and Karim Benzema
Chelsea and Manchester City have been put on red alert after it emerged Real Madrid are ready to sell Kaka.
The Brazil international has failed to impress at the Bernabeu since arriving in a £58million deal from AC Milan in 2009.
Signing in the same summer as Cristiano Ronaldo's record-breaking £80m deal, Kaka has been blighted by injuries and poor form in Spain.
Jose Mourinho was initially happy to offer the former Milan forward a chance to revive his reputation at Real but it is believed they are now preparing to offload him at the end of the season.
That could spark interest from both Chelsea and City, who have previously attempted to sign him before switching their attention elsewhere.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a long-time fan of Kaka, 29, and has already considered launching a fresh move for him this summer. Sportsmail revealed earlier this month that Abramovich is willing to finance a £25m deal.
Despite signing Fernando Torres in a British record £50m January swoop, both Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka are in their 30s and under threat.
Talent: Kaka is still highly regarded despite his troubles with injuries and form in Spain
Current Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Kaka, having worked with him at Milan - but the Italian's future at Stamford Bridge is far from secure.
City made an ambitious bid to sign Kaka just over two years ago and were initially confident of luring him away from Milan.
However, with City's revolution under their super-rich owners still in its infancy, Kaka opted to snub a switch to Eastlands. City's executive chairman Garry Cook was famously quoted as saying Milan 'bottled it'.
However, with Roberto Mancini's side now on course for Champions League football next season, Kaka could be tempted to join them if offered the chance.
Emmanuel Adebayor, currently on loan at Real from City, could be used as a makeweight in any deal.
I hope United go buy Kaka if RM decides to sell him.
