Standstill: Drogba fears for Chelsea's title challenge
Didier Drogba has cast major doubt over Chelsea's treble tilt after admitting there is 'a bad mood' around the club.
The Ivory Coast striker claims he and his Blues team-mates are 'suffering' and that Sunday's defeat by Liverpool 'cut away our legs' in their bid to catch Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United.
Chelsea are 10 points adrift of United and must realistically beat Sir Alex Ferguson's men twice if they are to have any chance of retaining their crown.
In addition to their championship quest, Carlo Ancelotti's team are also aiming for success in the Champions League and FA Cup. But Drogba indicated that morale at the club was at a worryingly low ebb.
'Our league position is similar to what it was last season,' he said. 'But absences, and the fact that we've not been scoring as many goals, has made for a bad mood around the place.
'I'm finding our bad spell hard to live with, as do the rest of the squad. We are suffering, given that Chelsea are not accustomed to losing matches. Carlo Ancelotti has been unhappy in recent weeks.'
Blue day: Meireles is mobbed after scoring the winning goal against Chelsea
The Double holders missed their chance to close the gap on United when Raul Meireles's strike earned Liverpool a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Before the setback, Chelsea had started to look capable of mounting a serious championship challenge once more by wining their previous three league games to arrest a slump that saw them pick up just 10 points from a possible 33.
'We had started to see light at the end of the tunnel once again,' said Drogba. 'But this latest defeat by Liverpool has cut away our legs and jeopardised our chances of winning the league title once more. It is going to be difficult for us to catch up with Manchester United.'
The £75million double capture of Fernando Torres and David Luiz last Monday brought some optimism. But Torres, a British record £50million signing from Liverpool, endured a nightmare debut against his former club and was replaced by Salomon Kalou after 66 minutes.
Drogba admitted: 'Fernando is a talented player - and important for our team - but it was difficult from an emotional point of view for him to be playing against his former team-mates.'
no offense, but after Klinsmann(spurs), u are the next great to be always "on your side", hence, U don't need "legs", dude..
check out the tiger beer adv..
chelsea have no chance this season anymore.
its man u's title to lose.
no really.. i believe it's still up for grabs.. 4 pts is not alot and the team that kena dump out of the UCL is at an advantage... and I don't see arsenal beating barca who is in god mode right now. unless we give up UCL... it's going to be a struggle.

"we"???? LOL... yep, MUFC still need to play a new Pool and chelsea twice in march.. maybe by then, all change..
i think roman trying hard to reduce the wage bill is a price chelsea has to pay for the last 2 years.
by dumping deco, ballack, carlvaho, joe cole, they basically lost the experience and quality reserve that bring them league victory last year.
however bringing in torres and david luiz at that price is just sign of desperate measure by roman if they miss out on the last UCL spot.
Liverpool fans will really laugh if for some freakish turn of events, Liverpool takes 4th spot while Chelsea drops to 5th at the end of the season.
It time for them to taste Europa League ?
europa league is favourite dish of liverpool.
in fact liverpool might even miss the europa league too.
The gap between Chelsea and Liverpool is just 6 points with 12 games to play.
Anything is possible.

Chelsea still have to play ManU twice...
The Blues keeper was in no-man's-land as Raul Meireles netted the game's only goal - and was blamed afterwards by Stamford Bridge boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Cech said: "It was my mistake. The coach couldn't have said anything else.
"Mistakes are a part of football and you have to learn to live with them. I have now made my first of the season.
"United stumbled and so did Arsenal. We had a chance to reduce the deficit again and it's a pity we couldn't take it.
"It will still bother me for a while yet but these things happen."
Chelsea are 10 points off Manchester United but Cech said: "December is the main reason we're behind but something similar could happen to Manchester."

then what? "the balls"?
Chelsea defence is terrible this season.
Everybody had a dipped in form, but I think Drogba's dip in form is tremendous.
Ancelotti should seriously drop Drogba... Drogba is rubbish.

These 2 games could make or break each other's season.
