Real Madrid are set to offer Karim Benzema to Arsenal in a swap deal for defender Gael Clichy, tabloid reports suggest.
The 22-year-old has made only three starts for the Spanish giants in La Liga, and scored one goal in the process. But it is thought that although the forward is not forcing a move away from the club, coach Jose Mourinho would be interested in moving him on in order to strengthen his full-back position.
The Mirror reports that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is ready to part with the €35 million hitman by offering him in exchange for the Gunners' full-back, who has long been a target for the capital club.
The emergence of Kieran Gibbs on the left means that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger would be willing to sacrifice Clichy in order to lure Benzema to Ashburton Grove.
The former Lyon forward has previously been reported to be a target for Juventus, but it has been suggested that the lure of working with other Frenchmen at Arsenal could turn his head in the direction of the north London club.
This sounds like a good deal since Gibbs is almost ready to replace Clichy. Let go of Bendtner, take in Benzema. Damn worth it! =D
of course its worth it. otherwise arsenal can buy bridge, who is frozen out at man city to replace clichy. easy does it.
Mourinho not so gong lah............
also he won't do it becoz he know Wenger will get the better deal..........
what's the big deal with Clichy.........get Heiko Westermann better lah...
Looks like Mourinho is desperate to replace Marcelo.
I do believe that he will move for Evra instead.

why evra when he can buy ashley cole, his favourite left back
A Cole almost left before the season started but Lotti persuaded him the stay back and sign a new improved contract so that deal is off now... Ever since, Mo has been link to Evra but still not confident enough to get him yet... Now it seems Clichy has come into the picture cos he has been doing well for the gunners...
My guess is, Mo has had about half a season with Benzema and still feel he might not be the one given Real has abundance in their strikers department... So why keep a player who doesn't fit into your gameplan? Why not used him to get a player whose position your club has been having a problem even before he took over?
I guess its long over due they got a decent left-back.
