Liverpool look to set to pip Premier League rivals Tottenham to the signing of Ajax striker Luis Suarez, according to the Metro.
The Uruguay international is said to be disappointed with the departure of Martin Jol, who left his post as the manager of Ajax on Monday following a poor run of results, and is now looking at leaving the Dutch giants in January.
It also believed that the 23-year-old has instructed his agent to make sure a move can be completed in January, according to reports circling in the Netherlands.
Spurs were first linked to Suarez after the striker starred in South Africa at the 2010 World Cup and their bitter rivals Arsenal were also linked with the player, but manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out making any signings in January.
Now it seems that Liverpool is the favourable destination for Suarez, with manager Roy Hodgson looking to bolster his options up front.
The former Fulham boss has already highlighted the need to buy a striker to play alongside Fernando Torres and Suarez will be marked as a real possibility.
It would seem that Hodgson could land the South American for a cut-price €10.5 million.

Liverpool have made a €15m bid for Ajax striker Luis Suarez, but the Dutch side are holding out for closer to €25m, according to media reports.
Italian publication Tuttomercato comments that the English Premier League want to pair the Uruguayan with Fernando Torres at Anfield, and have made initial enquires to bring Suarez to the club in the January transfer window.
Ajax are not currently in a position where they can reject a substantial offer for their star asset, but will attempt to hold out for a bigger bid from the Reds.
The likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Tottenham have been linked with Suarez in the past, but Liverpool have emerged as one of the main contenders for the player’s signature.
The 23-year-old struck 49 goals in an incredible season last year, and has managed 11 goals in 22 matches for the Amsterdam club this season.

My guess is, "Liverpool can't be any worse than Ajax" currently ?
And also, you can't stay in the dutch league after what you did ?
