  Roy Hodgson is set to raid his former club Fulham in January by bringing striker Clint Dempsey to Liverpool, according to reports.
  
  Hodgson is desperate to add some more attacking players to his goal-shy Liverpool side and believes 27-year-old Dempsey would be a valuable asset in the final third.
  
  The USA international can play in a number of positions going forward and, after Fulham’s poor start to the season, may look to move to a bigger club.
  
  Fulham lie 17th in the Premier League with only two wins, having succumbed 2-1 to Arsenal at the weekend. While the west London outfit has struggled, Dempsey has thrived — scoring six goals in all competitions this season.
  
  Liverpool have struggled for goals in the Premier League this season, with only 17 in 15 games. Dempsey's versatility may prove to be too enticing for Hodgson to turn down, and it is rumoured the 63-year-old is readying a £10 million bid for the Texan.
  
  The stumbling block for an potential deal is likely to be Fulham manager Mark Hughes, who would be reluctant to part with a player he sees as integral to the Cottagers’ progress for the rest of the season.
  
  Fulham’s hierarchy may also balk at the possibility of them losing another player to their former manager. Hodgson signed Paul Konchesky from Fulham in the summer and owner Mohamed Al-Fayed was adamant Hodgson would not be allowed to poach his former charges.
