Controversial capture: Kakuta (left) arrived at Chelsea from French club Lens
AC Milan hope to convince France Under 21 midfielder Gael Kakuta to turn his back on Chelsea.
The 19-year-old, who joined the Blues in controversial circumstances three years ago, is out of contract at the end of the season.
There had been doubts about whether he would be offered a new deal as the west London club look to cut the wage bill, but French newspaper L'Equipe has revealed that a four-year contract is on the table.
Kakuta was excused international duty last month to thrash out his future, though a move abroad could be even more tempting.
Bayern Munich have shown interest, but AC Milan have now emerged as a strong competitor.
Kakuta is concerned at his lack of first-team opportunities at Chelsea and would seek assurances from other suitors that he will get playing time.
His arrival at the Barclays Premier League club was contested by Lens in 2007. The 'tapping up' dispute led to Chelsea being banned from signing any new players until January 2011 when FIFA handed down their judgement in September 2009.
However, the Court of Arbitation for Sport overturned the decision in February and cleared Chelsea of wrongdoing.
Better for him to move on than to stay (at chelsea) because chances (down) there are limited.
he should go back to Africa where he belong..............
they went thru so much trouble to sign him and now they decide he's not worth the price lol. Viera in the 90s was deemed not good enough for AC Milan and he went arsenal. The rest is history.
chelsea signed a lot of players but keep players the same old.
Dont know why Ancelotti just don't want to try out the young players.
Now media cook up stories saying all these youngsters all want to seek first team action elsewhere.
he seems like a good player..should move on to ac milan where he will eventually replace the old guard of gattuso and pirlo..
theres robino and pato straight right infront of him for attackers
After all the trouble they went through to sign him and he gets to walk away for nothing now... It's quite a killjoy isn't it?
I bet what he want most is a better pay... He knows he will be a free agent in about 6 months time and he can start to speak to other clubs from Jan onwards... So now is the time to pressure his club to make him a better offer otherwise he will walk.
In my opinion, Chelsea should offer him a better deal to keep him at the club cos he is quite a good young player... And he has lots of potential to become a very good one too...
