The other half: Silva is unlikely to leave Milan as his wife is happy in the Italian city
Brazil defender Thiago Silva has cooled the idea of solving Chelsea's defensive headache by revealing his wife is desperate to stay in Milan.
Chelsea missed out on the 26-year-old when he left Fluminense for AC Milan in 2009, but the Blues have been tipped to make a renewed move after injuries to central defenders John Terry and Alex.
Silva has become a reliable mainstay at the San Siro and is also wanted by Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, but he admitted: 'My wife Isabel was the first in the family to say no to Madrid as she prefers to stay in Milan.
'I also like Milan very much as we're very comfortable in this city because we have all we need.
'I expect to stay as much time as possible here. I wouldn't have a problem playing many years in Milan like Paolo Maldini did.'
The 6ft centre half also dismissed the idea of quitting Milan for city rivals Inter.
Chelsea are looking at a number of defenders with a view to a January move, with Benfica braced for a new bid for their Brazil centre half David Luiz, 23.
