Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies both struck twice to help Bolton to a superb win over Newcastle.
Davies opened the scoring from the spot after Kevin Nolan handled before Chung-Yong Lee swept in for 2-0.
Elmander then rounded Tim Krul to score his opener before Andy Carroll reduced the deficit with a low drive.
Elmander poked in and Davies scored his second penalty against a Newcastle side who had Fabricio Coloccini sent off for elbowing Elmander.
The late fifth took Bolton up to fourth in the Premier League and a Champions League spot.
And having lost only one league game in 10 and outclassed a potent Newcastle, Owen Coyle's men are fully deserving of their placing.
