Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay up to £15 million in order to sign Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll, whom they see as a potential replacement for Didier Drogba.
The Sunday Express states that Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti may make his move as early as January because a number of other top Premier League clubs are also monitoring the starlet.
As has been well documented, star striker Drogba is now 32 and cannot go on forever, meaning Chelsea are regularly linked with promising forwards as they bid to replace him for the long-term.
Carroll has apparently impressed Ancelotti with his development at Newcastle, although the North East club would not be keen on losing the physical front-man, who signed a new long-term deal just this season.
The 21-year-old has been tipped to win an England call-up for the upcoming international friendly against France, although he was similarly backed for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro, only for Bolton Wanderers striker Kevin Davies to get the nod ahead of him.
Carroll has had a number of off-field problems in his short career to date and is currently living with club captain Kevin Nolan as part of a bail order for an assault charge.
throw in the offer with someone's ex-wife.. he sure will accept one...
he is not drogba quality lar. he reminds me of duncan ferguson
But he is still very young and getting better... A good fit i think...
carroll, amoebi and nolan remind me of the trio of drogba, anelka and lampard strangely.
this overhyped flop will be forgotten by next season.........
looks like i'm right about Ancelotti..............he's a dumbass....
Young but 15M?
chelsea dont seem to be interested in german players.
is it because of ballack?
well down the years, we have seen darren bent, ian wright etc.... prolific for club but never for country. Remember igor protti? Top scorer in Serie A once in the 90s. Let's wait and see.
well but anyway to score 6 goals in almost as many games in the EPL...for a 21 year old. This chap has some good talent there. Can he sustain....we shall see.
the days of chelsea signing supposedly up and coming english players are over....look at what happened to sidwell and swp...

Chelsea have to sign some more england players to meet its english player quota.
It is correct that he will be signed more of the quota than replacing Drogba.
They have to find another strong player to replace Drogba as he is unique and rare.

brudder............you also remember Igor Protti ah ???
Protti is far far far far better than Carroll lah...............
Protti was truly scary when he was at Bari.............a far far more complete striker than Carroll..........
and it was far far far more difficult to score in Serie A back in those days............all the best defenders were there..........

back in the days when Serie A was the best in the world...............people like Drogba can only play for mid-table teams at best...............
George Weah was far far far far far far far far better than Drogba.................
i think ballack was much better than the current chelsea right back. ramirez i think or mikel? sucky players those.
last time chelsea diamond was lampard, essien, ballack
now is jerkoff, obi wan mikel and ramirez. wtf??? the huge fall in standard...
Carroll is not of Drogba quality. Inconsistent form. And besides, Carlo Ancelotti is more of a tactical coach. Always prefers to play with his current batch of players rather than bringing in new players.
